What was it like? Have checked out the website but it doesn't really show any pics of pool areas etc. Is it a centerparcs in the sun? Thanks

We have stayed in several of their sites. La Carabasse was nice but one large pool. This year we are going to La Sirene & several threads on here have confirmed how great that site is supposed to be.

Which site are you thinking of>

Thinking possibly of La Baume (sp?!!) - it's the one near Nice. But having looked up costs of flights and car hire etc, am now wondering if it's worth it. Are these places like centerparcs?

Haven't ben there so can't say. The Siblu owned sites are very well run, others they just rent pitches on so can vary- but we've never had a problem. Nor exactly centreparcs - outdoor pools for a start. We always choose sites where you can walk or get Petit Train to the beach, and try to find one with a good village nearby for restaurants etc.

Start a post with "Anyone been to...." etc maybe

It will depend on the individual site but its more Havan/ Butlins/ Pontins than Centre Parcs. Each site is often run independantly, the one we stayed on in Spain had Canvas and Eurocamp as well as its own bungalows and hundreds of tourer spaces.

The pool was nice but the entertainment was of a pretty low standard, not that we were that bothered about that but even Butlins could put on a good show. ( The bit where the guys on stage were pretending to hold there bits out of there trousers was the signal it was time to go home and this was the first song of the family show. Shock.

Every thing else was very havan like the table tennis tournament and hourds of teenagers roaming about looking for something to get up too. There was a kids club but I wasn't interested in watching my kids doing jigsaws all day. Club was supervised but not enclosed.

The caravans were set out quite nicely but very close, they were end to end so unless you closed all the curtains you could see everything in all the caravans in the row, Plus the \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?rn=63990&topicid=1700&threadid=183111&redir=63990\caravans} behind were close enogh that you could hear every conversation and chair moving. I wouldn't have fancied the tents much either as they were very close and you know what it is like under canvas, no secrets.

It was a lesson learned for me and I would rather book direct with the sites and stay in there accomodation, which at that site was lovely thatched bungalows.

I stayed at La Baume quite a while ago, it was a good site, quite spacious, caravans were situated in their own 'garden' It was really well situated for trips out to St Tropez, Nice, Monaco etc (just don't spend any money when you visit these places!). We stayed in several campsites along the South Coast of France and it was definately my favourite. There is a bit of a village nearby - went to the local french restaurant which was lovely.
They didn't allow BBQ's beacuse that part of France is thick with Forests.

These holidays though do add up in price - went on a £9.50 siblu sun weekend break to Tuscany & once we had paid for the flights, car hire, hire of two child car seats & upgraded car insurance - it cost considerably more!
