we are travelling for the first time to Devon and Cornwall and I don't have any AA cover.

Need to book this today but don't have a clue what level of cover to go for, what do you have?

I don't have the AA but I use a company called Autonational who are much cheaper. That said I've never had to call them out. (Fingers crossed)

the options are as follows - the companies call them different things but these are the sections:
rescue: someone comes to see if they can fix your car at the side of the road
recovery: if they can't, they take you and your car somewhere. You want to choose a policy that lets you choose where this place is.
homestart: help if the car breaks down at your home or within a short distance of it.

you certainly need the first two, the third depends on your circumstances. Some companies won't cover cars over a certain age.

Some bank accounts have breakdown cover included. Halifax ultimate reward account and HSBC advance account both do. Check that you're not already covered before paying any money :)

I'd look at Green Flag or one of the smaller companies too. You need at least roadside and recovery in terms of cover.

Also, there are lots of offers through TopCashBack so it's definitely worth a look.
