Something to help calm me down when travelling?

I'm not bothered about the flight, it's the whole lead up to getting on the plane. I get anxious and snappy. I get anxious that all the plans, etc that are in place will go smoothly, ie getting to the airport in plenty of time, getting car parked, checked in, etc. my anxiety levels gradually drop as things are done, and by the time I get on the plane I'm fine. I don't like it though, it spoils what should be an exciting time, and its not fair on my DH and DS. I'm the same at the other end, ie getting through immigration, collecting luggage and car, and arriving at accommodation. Is there something g I can take that would help with this? Don't want to be out of the game altogether as there's the possibility of having to drive on arrival. Should I go to the doctor? Any advise welcome. Thanks

Rescue Remedy?

I'm exactly the same, fine once I'm at the gate but a bag of nerves leading up to it. Rescue Remedy spray really helps me with this sort of thing.

if you want to drive at the other end of a flight then taking a prescription drug is out tbh. don't most people get like this when going on holiday? relaxation tapes leading up to the holiday?

Will have a look at Rescue Remedy, thanks. Flying to US soon so 9 hr flight. Would that be enough time for anything stronger to wear off do you think?

RR isnt a perscription drug, it's a herbal thing. No problems with driving while using it.

I get a little like that, but I use the energy positively. Also, just concentrate on each step on your list one at a time. I find it reassuring to have a timeline, and all the documents required, in order, with me in a folder.

Thanks melanie, I'm already there with the folder in event order!

Good start! Accept your adrenalin, use it for good, smile, go "woohoo!"
Every so often, and accept that you've done everything you can- anything that happens is outside your control, but you'll have the capacity to deal with it.
