I never ever fly with them anyway - I loathe Michael O'Leary & will not line his pockets

But their attitude to safety is utterly cavalier. Management destroy black box data for instance. WTAF???

No, deliberately avoided this as flying with them in a few weeks and assume that whatever is "uncovered" applies to all budget airlines anyway.

Ponders · 12/08/2013 22:01

I did wonder if that might be true, Edith...

but the prog seemed to be triggered by \link{http://www.ryanair.com/en/news/madrid-diversions-to-valencia-26-july\the incident when 3 Ryanair flights unable to land at Madrid due to thunderstorms were diverted to Valencia & all had to issue a Mayday for an early landing because they were running out of fuel}

that Ryanair news release implies that their fuel levels were fine, but only one other flight had to land urgently & it was from (I think) Ecuador. No other UK budget airlines were mentioned on the programme

someone on the prog (Spanish ATC maybe?) said what happens in future if a number of planes all request an early landing at once & there isn't time to get them all down safely...Hmm

\link{http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2206322/Ryanair-ordered-review-fuel-policy-making-THREE-emergency-landings-planes-ran-out.html\DM report says an easyjet flight also made an emergency landing}

Why don't all the 0 contract hours people refuse to fly on a set date in protest. Presumably as they are employed he couldn't sack the whole lot without real cause? How does it work if they aren't contracted to fly a minimum amount of hours?

Wonderstuff · 12/08/2013 22:33

The clever thing he does though is quash any attempts at unionisation. Very difficult to have a day when everyone refuses to work, because if a few fail to take part then those who refused just won't get any more hours. If they list safety issues in any collective action he will fire anyone taking part, he's openly said this. Very, very difficult to stand up to employers when you're on zero hours.
