Going to Disney Paris on Thursday - a few questions

Tex111 · 12/06/2006 22:49

I've been trying to find the answers on the Disney website but having no luck.

I'm travelling with 7 month old DD who is on a dairy-free, soya-free, egg-free diet. Do they have anything that she can eat such as jars of baby food in the shop or will I just have to pack numerous jars for her?

Also, do they sell packs of nappies in the shop?

Between the nappies, tins of special formula, jard of baby food, etc, etc I don't know how we're going to squeeze in any clothes!

I have been to DLP twice - I wasn't specifically looking for this sort of thing so I could be wrong, but I am fairly sure that they don't have this sort of stuff.

Take it with you

I'd take it all with you, you dont want to be stressing about food when you get there. Will they put a fridge in your room for you?

Michaelangelo · 13/06/2006 08:51

They do sell a few jars and some nappies but to be honest I would take with me as not much choice especially given your need to ensure it doesn't include any of the foods you listed.

Tex111 · 13/06/2006 09:01

Thanks for the information. Looks like I'll be taking tons of luggage!

I am going next thursday and have just found out that in the disney hotels you have to request a kettle so the is no definite that there will be one in your room.

I don't think the website is very clear at all about the facilities in the room for babies...unless you have found a bit that I haven't on the website?

I bought a litle one from Boots yesterday to take with us and am going to take nappies and food with us too. As my mum is a travel agent as has said that Disney charge way over the top for anything.

Like you I also would like to pack clothes for dp, me, dd and ds but think they are going to have to come second place to baby stuff!! At least the weather should be good enough that you don't need to take to many jumpers!

When are you back...any tips you could post for me for next week would be really appreciated as I am getting a bit nervous too. We are staying at the newport bay hotel.

One thing my mum did tell me about was the 'baby switch', it means that you and your partner queue up together than one of you goes on the ride while the other holds the baby and then you can swap without having to join the queue again. Sounds like a good idea for the bigger rides with longer queues.

Have a fantastic time!! Grin

Hi Neena, I'll definitely post any tips. We're at the Newport Bay too!

I think I'm going to buy the Oganix fruit and the Plum Baby food for DD as it'll be easier to pack than the glass jars. I'm also going to pack a nylon holdall with clothes and I can just squash up the holdall and put it and the clothes in the big suitcase on the way back once the food and nappies are used up and there's more space.

So funny, I was looking at those little kettles at Boots today! I did speak to DD's dietician and she said I can use spring water for her formula while we're away so DD is going to be a very posh baby with her Evian. Smile

Definitely haven't found a useful bit on the website. It seems it's all set up to make the sale but then they have very little useful info once you've booked.

We're back very late Monday and I'm planning an at home day on Tuesday so I'll try to post any useful info for you then.

You can hire a kettle from them for 10 euros and it has tea and stuff on a little tray too.

They will also unlock the fridge/minibar thing if you give recpetion your credit card details.

In a panic I phoned them today on their number and they were soooo helpful and friendly. Explained all about the changing facilities/ where to buy nappies etc.

If you have anymore worries I would call them, once I had gone through all the press 1 for... they answered straight away. You need to have your booking ref when you call though I htink for maximum help.

Are you just taking baby or do you have older children too?

Look forward to hearing your comments!

Have a great holiday!

Thanks, that's really useful. We have an almost-4 year old and a 7 month old. Amazing how easy the 4 year old seems now. Will try to give Disney a ring today. I did try last night but it was past office hours.

Got back last night and we had a brilliant time! The Newport Bay can provide a kettle and steriliser (but I had already packed the cold water tablets). They do sell nappies but they are incredibly overpriced and they only have size 3. Strangely, they don't sell baby wipes so be sure to take plenty. I had forgotten how much we use them not just for nappy changes but also for wiping faces, cleaning hands, etc and we came very close to running out. They do have some baby food but, again, it's overpriced and quite limited.

At the end of Main Street they have a great Baby Center with a big changing area, loads of highchairs and comfy chairs for bottle and breastfeeding.

When we went swimming in the hotel pool they gave me a swim nappy for DD, free of charge. Also, good to know, that they have a doctor on call. DS had a high temp we couldn't get down on Sunday night and they sent someone to the room within 30 minutes. We weren't charged for the service!

I would also say that room service at the Newport Bay is very limited and not great quality, though the continental breakfast is nice. They sent enough bread rolls, ham and cheese, and jam with the breakfast that more than once I made sandwiches for lunch from the leftovers. Saved us a fortune which we then went and spent on more important things like Mickey balloons and Mickey ears for the whole family. Smile

My tip would be to know your baby/ childs weight in kg as they neede to know this when giving me pain killers for DS. I didn't have a clue and they struggled to work it out from the st and lbs.

neena28 · 21/06/2006 07:16

Tex Thanks for coming back and updating!

I'm just doing the final bits of packing now, trying to be fairly organised for one in my life!

Weird about the wipes have put in an extra travel sized pack along with the big pack, you'd think wipes are a major neccesity for all travelling with little ones?

Do we need to take all the towels for use in the room and swimming or just swimming ones?

Are the rooms OK? We are taking a 5.5 year old and a large nearly 1 year old and I was hoping that it wouldn't be too cramped in the room?

Did yu do any of the extras like going in to the park an hour early for breakfast? Any that you'd recommend or not bother with again.

Thanks neena

merlot · 21/06/2006 15:10

Hi

We stayed at the Santa fe just before xmas. We had our 2 year old and 8 year old with us - not at all cramped. Eldest son went in top bunk. Youngest in cot alongside of bunkbeds then quite a big space and our double bed. Worked like a dream.

Yes, I did think doing the early breakfast was worthwhile - you get to see the park whilst it is almost empty and it was great. Have a lovely time

neena28 · 21/06/2006 18:50

Thanks merlot

Tex are you about???

binker · 21/06/2006 19:04

i'd take it with you - I had a huge job to find tampons there !

Tex111 · 21/06/2006 22:09

Neena, sorry I disappeared. DS still a bit ill and keeping me busy. Hope this isn't too late.

The room was a very good size. We had two double beds and a travel cot that they provided and still had plenty of space. The towels for swimming are provided free of charge so you don't have to worry about that. Bath towels are provided too and they have decent toiletries.

I definitely recommend a character breakfast. That was a highlight of the trip for us. DS's face when Mickey came over to our table was worth the whole trip just for that moment.

Skribble · 21/06/2006 22:10

There are tampons, but only in a few shops behind the counter so you have to ask some spotty 18yr old boy in your crap french for the super strength ones in front of a queue of 60 kids.

"Pardon no THE BIG ONES se vu play!!!!" .

neena28 · 21/06/2006 22:30

Thanks tex that has just eased a bit of my mad packing frenzy!!

Where the hell did tampons come from?? THat one was a bit random but thanks for the advice!!

Anymore for anymore.

(can you tell that I have been to the sma eplace on holiday every year for about 10 years and it's a member of my families place so i only need to take us plus a few clothes!!)

Tex did you fly or go on the train?

Hope you little one is better soon. Our dd has got an ear infection but dr has said it will be ok to fly. But great to know there is a dr should we need one.

Tex111 · 22/06/2006 08:57

Hi Neena, you're probably on your way now but I thought I would answer your question. We took the train from Waterloo. We're in London so it was great. They do this thing where you check your luggage at the train station and they take it to your hotel so you can go straight into the park on your first day. It was so easy and got the holiday off to a good start as we got a good half-day in the park.
