I've done the taking heavy glass pots of Hipp babyfood with me before and it is so heavy - are there any unfrozen other babyfoods apart from plum baby superfoods (not much choice) that would be lighter to take?

where are you going? I don't think I've had a problem getting food once we were there (but I guess it depends where you are going)

where are you going ? Hipp is available in some parts of Europe.

BudaBabe · 12/06/2006 21:32

Can get Hipp here in Budapest and used to get in Bulgaria too. Also used to get a brand in Bulgaria called Semper whcih I think was Swedish and very good.

Does depend on where you are going.

We went to Spain when ds was 7 months and the food choices were actually better! He loved the "steak and potato" jars!

I've not been there but I would imagine you will find a good selection of babyfoods in their supermarkets.

I've never had a problem in Europe and found they have a wider range of products then we have.

I would take enough jars with me for a few days and get the rest there. How old is your baby? Could you also use fresh food?

moondog · 12/06/2006 23:02

Just give the baby what you are eating-especiaaly in Italy!
Don't complicate matters-having a kid entails carrying around enough crap as it is.

Feistybird · 12/06/2006 23:04

We went to Italy and did not find a great selection of babyfoods (maybe diff where you go of course) but, restaurants more than willing to do small portions of pasta, lasagne etc that we mashed up, so she ate grown up food from really early on. Worked v.well for us.

cocoliver · 13/06/2006 06:47

of course I would use fresh food but as I am sure you all know sometimes it doesnt mash up easily and it is always better to have something familiar for a baby to fall back on when they have never been away before and everything is so different for them. Thanks for all your suggestions...looking forward to it.
