Private villa with shared pool / facilities - does this exist?

HI there am looking for a holiday for next July. We normally go to family resorts eg Lykia World in Turkey as the kids love it. Three dc 9, 6, 3. They are very sociable and love meeting other kids. However DP and I are a bit sick of the crowds and bun fights at mealtimes etc. Thibk we'd prefer a quiet villa somewhere for a change where we can please ourselves at mealtimes and so our own thing. we've really enjoyed hiring cottages in Wales and Cornwall when the dc were younger. However, think the boys would now consider a holiday without other kids to play with at least an epic fail.

Does anyone know of anywhere where we could hire a villa but with a shared pool and maybe some facilities where they could meet other kids? has to be hot, early July next year, good quality accommodation. We are ok with travel times and hot weather.

Any ideas?

either owners direct or holiday lettings has a filter for 'grouped properties' or something along those lines.

other alternative would be keycamp type holiday, which mine at that age loved

here it is lovely - we are here at the moment and are having a fab time.

Is 4th time we have been.

Lots of stuff to do if you fancy a day trip to Rome or Florence or Arezzo.

The people who own it are lovely always knocking to drop off a flan or or some herbs or salad stuff of fruit and there is a huge fab Ipercoop nearby where you can spend hours wandering looking at the different produce.

The kids have met lots of other lovely children over the years - only one British child (a mumsnetter no less who had seen my recommendation).

We have flown to Fiorli, Bologna or Pisa each time.

I am inside mumsnetting as am too bloody hot and baby (in tummy) doesn't seem to like it very much.

Check out james villas and search under complexes. They have a variety of destinations with s/c accomodation but shared pool and facilities. If your DCs are sporty La Manga could be a good option , quality of accomodation is high.

We do that in France, Chez Nous is an owners direct type site and there are plenty of gites with shared pools.

ooh some fantastic options here guy thanks, these look exactly what we are thinking. waiting for DP to get home and we will have a look at them all. good to see that this kind of setup is around. we would quite like an isolated villa on its own but the boys would never forgive us and would resort to bickering I fear. They are quite spotty and like to be doing activities so will definitely have a look at La Manga. Italy is somewhere we have never really been so that would be good and that Greece one is one I was trying to remember from seeing on here, thanks.

If you look up some of the golf complexes in Portugal or spain there are some that have Villas with Private pools but also shared complex pools, tennis courts , clubhouses etc so you that you have your privacy but also a chance for dc socialising.

Agriturismos in Italy might suit you - these are self-catering farm cottages/apartments, usually with a shared pool, often with a lovely restaurant when you can't be bothered to cook. We've gone to southern Italy for the last 5 years, and DD (12) usually makes friends with other kids staying at the same place - the one we go to ends up with a floating group of British/Dutch/German families, with the kids playing table football. Look at Long Travel's website to get a feel and pick the agriturismos that sound particularly family-friendly or have sport facilities. The good ones do fill early. I also have some friends that have had a great time going to Lake Garda and doing watersports there.
