Travelling with Virgin Atlantic and not sure whether these have to be checked in or whether they are acceptable in hand luggage?

Thank you Oh Wise Mners Smile

My daughter took her GHDs on in hand luggage with Virgin as she couldn't bear to be parted from them and all was well. She has with lufthansa too.

I don't think I can be classes as 'wise' though!

I would have thought not as they always ask you to confirm you have packed your electricals in the hold luggage when you check in.

Anyone else?

We've now got one for hand luggage and one for hold.

(They're not mine btw, they're DD1's)

Sure they'll be fine. Electricals are one of the main things people take on hand luggage- think phones, tablets, cameras etc. She'll probably need to take them out of the bag for security and put them alongside her bag in those tray things as they go through the scanner so just tell her to put them and any other electricals in any easy to reach part of the bag.

Always used to take mine in hand luggage when travelling (extensively) for business pre-DCs, which was usually with Virgin Atlantic.

I always think it's best to keep electrical stuff in hand luggage. Less likely to have your checked luggage searched that way!

hand luggage is fine. Valuables (not that these are) in hold luggage are at risk.

hand luggage: everything valuable, essential or fragile, nothing sharp, liquids gels and pastes within the rules. And a spare pair of knickers.
hold luggage: nothing valuable, essential or fragile, anything sharp, liquids gels and pastes over a certain size
