Hi all. I'm going on holiday with my dd 8 months and have just written a list of everything I need to take, and its massive. I'm off to Cyprus and just wondered do I need to take nappies or can I buy them there? She's wearing Pampers. I also usually cook her my own food but am buying tins to take. It's a lot of tins for every day. Would I be able to get those there as well? I don't want to pack everything then find out I can buy the same over there. I would also like to know if there is any good tips to flying with a baby. Any advice to keep them amused because I'm sure she is going to be very grumpy (early flight)! Thanks in anticipation x

I would probably lined the bottom of a suitcase with nappies just in case you can't find some fast enough. Better to be on the safe side.

Sorry, other than that, I have no advice as we haven't travelled yet but will bookmark this topic for advice. Same age as mine.

I would definitely take the food (have been to Spain and Turkey and food is definitely different), and just enough nappies to tide you over till you can get to a shop. Just think of it as room you can fill with you purchases on the way back. The flight isn't that long - just take a couple of small brand new toys that she will have never seen before, and request the bulkhead seat so that you can get the cot (incase she will nap in it) and check when you get your boarding ticket that they have indeed given it to you. Are u taking a car seat (I don't think they will be too fussy about car restrainst) and stroller (or check whether your resort might provide it for you)? What about your digital thermometer? Some stuff for a fever and for a cold? Some sarongs to drape over her? At the same age we went to Turkey and my DS slept for a lot of the way. There are heaps of good info on here about travelling. Good Luck and have good fun.

Thanks for your replies, its really tricky when you haven't taken a baby before. I've been told by the airway (brittania) that she is too old for a sky cot and I've tried to request extra legroom seats but I'm not allowed these either because they are situated by the emergency exits. You cannot occupy these seats if you have a baby. I am hoping she will sleep but is a baby who likes her routine, so won't be happy as we have to leave home at 4am!! It was a good idea about the toys as she can be occupied for longer with a new one. I will definately be taking the food with me now. Thanks again and any more suggestions would be welcome.

dkdad, thanks for that link. They seem to do everything we use, even her milk!

Not sure if it's still the same now, but we flew with Britannia when dd1 and ds were babies/toddlers (under 2yrs) anyone with babies was called before the other passengers to board the plane, and we could take the buggy right up to the boarding gate. Also we didn't have to check in until an hour before the flight instead of the usual 2 hours, as they already had pre-booked seats for those travelling with babies, we definately didn't pay extra for them.
