Trying to make a decision about european centreparcs . has anyone been to any in France or elsewhere in Europe ? Just wondered if they're same as he uk ones in terms of space and also facilities/activities on offer. Is the format exactly the same eg hiring bikes etc. I realise accommodation is going to be different but are they set in forests in the same way? I just really like the kind of secluded feel of the uk ones with all the shade and tall pine trees.
Please let me have your opinions and recommendations if any? We've done Sherwood forest a few times now and also elveden. The centerparcs holiday works brilliantly and our 3ds love it. Just fancied a slight change of scene maybe.

I suppose Im a little apprehensive if its going to be full of french speaking kids etc / instuctors for activities because half the fun for the kids is meeting new friends but that's not really a big issue. But let me know your thoughts.

Dont really want to drive tooo far!!

Thankyou

The one in Zandvoort in the Netherlands is in sand dunes rather than trees and seems to resemble a Smurf village.

It has the benefit of being located by the beach and a small town, making it easier to explore. Much less remote and contained than uk centre parcs.

The dutch ones are the best. We have been to the belgian and Dutch ones. can't recall exact names but De Emhof or somesuch and Kempersomething were very good. Similar to the uk in that they are set amongst trees, lakes and you whizz about on your bikes everywhere. A handy hint - the bikes are very reasonable to hire, if you don't want to drive with all yours on the back.

Erperheide (Belgium) and Kampervennen (Holland) are both fantastic. Both have beautiful, fun swimming pools.

Kampervennen was probably the best. We had skiing lessons, which were in English for the english speakers. Loads of nature, lakes to walk and cycle around.

Het Meerdal also in Holland is also very good.

The one in Eifel in Germany is beautiful but not so many activities.
Noordzeekust in Germany is a bit rubbish.

Yes yes to De Kempervennen. Try May half term as Dutch school holidays are usually different. Second taking bikes and trying skiing or snowboarding. All the activities are cheaper and Dutch people are so nice.

Sorry meant to say get bikes there not take them as the all in package is very good value. I understand they are run by a completely different company.

thankyou Suttonmum1, kelda , nancerama and DocMarten. Thats all really really helpful. I will certainly have a good look at the dutch and belgian ones. As usual we cant make a decision . I didnt realise until yesterday that they actually had them in france - maybe they're fairly new. Did any of you go recently ? was it more expensive, given the euro for activities ? Or about the same. #The last time we went to Uk centerparcs with 3 ds it all gets very pricey but I guess thats what you sign up for. Did you go out of the parc in Holland and belgium?

Another vote for Kempervennen. The good thing was the price didn't shoot up with English school hols as, I think, due to its location, people go there from The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and of course the UK. There were lots of English families there when we went (June school half term 3 or 4 years ago). Some people had driven from the south of UK non stop; we broke the journey overnight in Ghent both ways.
