Can you get a family room for 5 people in Rome?

A slight complication with our holiday booking has meant we have one night to cover - family of 5, dc are 9,11,13, we often hostel in the uk to get a family room. I've spent over an hour searching this afternoon, and all the big chains are max 4 and hostels seem more party type than the outdoorsy type we'd use in the uk.

Any ideas? Off also to ask on Lonely Planet.

we are a family of 5 too and I spent hours searching with no luck so ended up booking an apartment for our holiday. we used to use a specialist website but they don't seem to be on the web any more. have to say that Lonely planet was the most useful of the guides so hopefully it will be more use than me. might have to go with it and book 2 rooms unfortunately.

I think it would be tricky. I had a look for rooms with multiple beds for our party of 4, but there didn't seem to be many.

However there are loads of apartments available, prices seem very reasonable, although I'm not sure how easy it is to rent for one night.

We are a family of 6 & had 2 nights in an apartment in Central Rome last year, was pretty cheap, 2 bedrooms, 1 small shower room & a kitchen area. Whole place was tiny, but we only slept there.

Some years ago we stayed at Hotel Trastevere in via Manara, which had a loft room in an annex that slept 5. It was like a mini apartment in one room, with very high ceilings and essentially two mezzanines, so we were all together but with our own areas. We slept on "ground floor" double, one child on single bed mezzanine and two on a double bed mezzanine above that. There was a kitchenette and a nice view, breakfast in main hotel. It was fairly basic but fine. Location was superb for walking, transport, Trastevere itself of course.
