Are there prams to use at Heathrow Airport?

I am going to transit at Heathrow next month and am travelling alone with a 3yr old and a 6 month old. I am a little nervous about the transit as I know you can't be given your own pushchair until the luggage belt at your arrival destination. If I can borrow a pram for an hour or so it will make life much easier.

We live in the Middle East and here all the airports have prams you can use, but don't remember seeing them in the UK.

With such little children, you should be able to keep your pushchair with you right up till you get on the plane and then pick it up as soon as you disembark. It doesn't necessarily go off with the other hold luggage. Airport staff are usually brilliant about this stuff! Check with the airline you're travelling with about their policy.

Mine was put in the hold when travelling without DH to Aberdeen from Dubai and I needed it for the transfer in T5 (arthritis and a 11 month old). I burst into tears when they told me (not my finest moment) and they (BA) found me a pushchair but it didn't steer.

You can have your pushchair, take it to the airplane door and ask them to make sure you get it at the other end. I have only ever had it taken away from me once (BA) and that was when the plane was full and there were about 6 other families with young children and they had car seats & prams/pushchairs stored for them

BA have some at T5 but they didn't have any when I went through with DC's aged 6,4 and 2. We had trunkies (not actually the best plan in fact for three!!) and they gave me a member of staff to escort me through to the gate which was fab! Between terminal one and five, loads of people helped carry my bag, three trunkies and held my children's hands. With two, the age of yours, a trunkie (with snacks, changing stuff books and toys) and a sling / ergo style back pack is a good idea plus a very small cross body bag for wallet passport and boarding passes. Don't be afraid to make eye contact with people, accept help and ask the ground staff to help.

Thanks so much for your replies. I will be in T5, so maybe I will be lucky and find one. My 3yr old can walk, not too worried about her. I will have to use a sling then for DD2, it's just she is over 9kg and I struggle to carry her for long, plus all the crap we will be travelling with.

I will take the pram to the gate at this end so it's just in the UK I might struggle. Last time I flew into Manchester they told me it's a H&S issue that they can't give you your pram as you leave the plane. In every other country have been this isn't the case.

In the airport here they have basic Maclaren prams everywhere. I might write to BA and suggest it. I bet Maclaren would give them for free - what a marketing op!

Not through Thiefrow, but we have always got the pushchair back at the aeroplane door, been able to use it as in the airport, and then get it back on the aeroplane when we re-boarded. It also meant we could keep the pushchair right til boarding as well.
Worth asking, but take a sling for the baby just in case. DS2 also spent quite a bit of time sleeping on me (front facing at 2 yrs!) on the plane. We had a conecta which could be used to carry front (ie on plane) and back (ie rest of the time!)

No buggies at LHR.

When I travelled to the Uk from Oz on my own, there was a man that has this electric car with a carriage on the back. He kindly took us with the wheelchair passengers. He took us as far as could to passport control. It saved my sanity after a mad flight with a 13 mo and nearly 3 year old.

You can now get your pram back at the aircraft door on arrival at Heathrow with BA.

Also if its not a massive pram, ask the crew at the door if they can take it onboard and put it in one of the wardrobes.
