Booking mgm grand in las vegas on tuesday through a travel agent, do we still have to pay the $25 a day resort fee or is it couvered by cost of holiday,

Previously stayed elsewhere on the strip but booking mgm anyone stayed there is it good? We have been in hotel several times but not to rooms/pool or resteraunts etc.

we stayed at signature at mgm but used the pool and buffet breakfast at mgm. both excellent. i think you will still have to pay the resort fee.

Is there a reason for using a travel agent, why not book it direct with the hotel?. You may get a better choice of rooms that way as well. If booked online a daily resort fee of $28 is added to all room reservations upon check in. This resort fee will apply in your case as well.

I stayed at the MGM some years back. Its a huge hotel indeed, you can easily cover a vast distance getting from the elevator to your hotel room and check in lines can be v long although it does move quite quickly.

There is a vast choice of restaurants and shops as well as a food court. Smoking is not permitted outside any of the gaming areas.

Thats great weve always booked using a travel agent, wouldn't no where to start looking to book separate really.

If you are booking the hotel as part of a package, it may be an 'inclusive' price the travel agent is quoting you. Get this is writing, so if you are charged at check out you can argue with the travel agent when you get back.

To check youa re being quoted a decent price, just go to the hotel's own website or even expedia and look for the best deals.

Breakfast is amazing. We still talk about it 5 years on.

BellaVita · 22/06/2013 17:24

Resort fees have to be paid - doesn't matter how you book.

threesypeesy · 22/06/2013 17:27

See that's what usually happens it's imcluded in package but booking with differnt agent getting a really good price, thomas cook are struggling to match any where near it.

Have a look at the hotel rates

www.mgmgrand.com/hotel/ is the website you need to use.

Both BA and Virgin fly direct to Las Vegas.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 22/06/2013 17:59

Why is the price with this other agent very different?.

Breakfast at the Grand Café is very good with lots of choice.

threesypeesy · 22/06/2013 18:13

No idea I told them what thomas cook gave us and they bet it, its still thomas cook direct flight, went back to thomas cook and they couldn't beat it.

Have just checked could get it about £300 cheeper if I book separate but dh prefers going through travel agents, as we always have.

Glad it a decent hotel, what we saw of it before was lovely but obviously we haven't seen the rooms etc, apparently its all re done.

I've just booked via trivago and last minute.com. It was an amazing £160 for three nights. What does the resort fee mean? Do you have to pay it if you don't want to use the resort aspects like the casino?

threesypeesy · 23/06/2013 07:41

As far as I know everyone pays $25 per room per day for the wifi, pools etc think it mandatory unless it's stated as part of your package which it usually is through the liles of thomas cook.

£160 is not bad for 3 nights, are you going somewhere else too? It's alot of travelling for 3 days.

A resort fee is a charge added to your bill on a nightly basis for "services". In some rare cases the charge is actually worth the service (provided that you use it). Unfortunately in most instances it is purely an underhand cash grab to up the overall cost per night stay.

Not all LV hotels charge such fees but many do.

buttercup12 · 23/06/2013 10:30

Yep, we're heading on to San Diego and then driving the PCH to San Francisco. Away for two weeks in total. Can't wait!!

BellaVita · 23/06/2013 10:36

The resort fee will be the tax payable to the sheriff of LV.

threesypeesy · 23/06/2013 11:31

Sounds fab buttercup Grin

The resort fees revenue goes back into the hotels who charge their guests such fees.

threesypeesy · 25/06/2013 16:37

Booked today but all the hotel were full except 4 for early next june so were staying at the quad instead. And resort fees are included with our package

I booked the Vdara through a travel agent and didn't have to pay the resort fee.

The Vdara like practically all Vegas hotels charges a resort fee - that fee in your case is $28 daily. Its been put into the overall charge you've paid.

threesypeesy · 26/06/2013 11:24

I've seen this "SO" before with regards to another one of their properties.

MGM Grand have not realised any dates for their accommodation for June 2014. If you did want to stay there I would look there in say 4-6 weeks time online.
