Thomas Land with large special needs child!

Any advice welcome please. Ds2 is 11 and has special needs. He has phases of really loving Thomas the Tank Engine and is currently in one now so we were thinking of taking him to Thomas Land for his birthday. However he is big for 11 and his brother is 13 (not special needs but would want to be there because it is DS2's birthday and he likes to see him enjoy himself.) Firstly would we be ridiculously out of place? Secondly would they actually fit on the rides? I know obviously some are for adults to accompany children so that would be alright but are there a lot of smaller rides e.g. roundabouts, circuits with engines on etc which are really designed for toddlers? Thirdly does it get really crowded? Unfortunately DS2's birthday is in August and I think we would have to go in August so that he understood it was for his birthday IYSWIM so I guess it is a busy time. Anyone with any experience of this, I would appreciate your opinions.

I went on most of the rides with ds2 as he was only just 4 when we went. I fitted in no problem so I'm sure that your ds's would too!

We went in August too, it was extremely busy, but if you have written proof of your ds's diagnosis then you can get exit passes to let you get onto a certain number of rides (of your choice) without having to queue. Would that help him?

Have a look here for the full details.

I used Tesco vouchers to pay for our entry which made it a great value day out.

Hope you all have a great time!

It's more busy than crowded IYSWIM. There will be queues for the popular rides. Drayton Manor is a big site so there are plenty of places you can walk away and find a quiet spot for a picnic and watch nutters people on the scary rides. There are many quite benign rides in the rest of the park too, there is another train, a pirate boat etc.

I think I have been on all the Thomas Land rides over the course of several visits as we live near it (except Cranky's drop tower!). Everything is sized for adults although not much leg room Grin.

Thomas land and DMP is a good day out.

We go there with DS and have seen groups if teenagers with special needs at Thomasland. The staff were really attentive. I'd definitely recommend it. Oh and we went on all the rides as DS is only 2 so you shouldn't have any problems.
Have fun!
