Help - Premium Service Passport issue in Liverpool

Ok, so I go to the appointment I've made for my son in Liverpool - for a one day premium service passport. He's 5 and his first child passport ran out this month.

We had his photographs countersigned by an academic friend of ours who has known us for 9 years.

At the interview they told me to wait while they checked a few things, thy then called me over and informed me that the application was rejected as my counter-signatory could not access a FAX machine.

She works in a university and all of the fax machines were decommisoned years ago and replaced by photocopiers that scan and copy and email documents.

I don't knopw anyone who works in an office with a FAX machine or anyone with access to one!!!!

So, I'm at a quandary here - I need to get his passport sorted as we're visiting relatives in mid July.

This 'FAX' rule isn't mentioned in any documentation, small print or in other threads so has anyone encountered this issue before?

The person who you get as a counter-signature needs to be contactable.

If you had just sent away the passport through the post and they needed to check any details they would have written them a letter.

But because you were booked in for the one day service they obviously needed to get whatever details they needed quicker than that.

Did you ask the office specifically want the wanted to know from her? Did they take in your application or ask you to rebook the appointment?

You have loads of time to get this sorted, so don't panic!

Hi thanks, it's the FAX machine that's an issue, they won't accept emails of any kind or scanned pdf's etc I just don't know anyone who works anywhere with a fax machine.
They gave me a piece of paper which meant I can go in without booking an appointment but I'll have to decide if I can arrange a counter-signatory that will be accessible by a landline and also near a fax - otherwise send it by the one week process.
There is plenty of time but I am a little worried as I need to arrange a Chinese tourist visa too (takes 3/4 working days)

What a kuffufle!

The fax thing is a bit antiquated, it seems to be that way in all the offices.

Hope you find somebody who is able to help you out. Would one of his teachers at school do it? They have faxes in most schools I would think.

They have fax machines in most internet cafes don't they - could your counter-sig pop out to fax it on a lunch break or something?
