I'm making myself very nervous:

  1. Flights are at a bad time (night) and I bet she won't sleep. 4hrs of screaming might send me mad!
  2. All inclusive but she is a terrible eater, especially in heat
  3. Worried about the heat and sun
  4. Worried about illness while abroad
  5. How will we keep her entertained without going insane!
It didn't seem such a bad idea when we booked it. Please give me some ideas how I can relax!!

  1. buy cheap toys from eBay, charity shop or similar. Buy books from same. Hide in a bag. Produce items as necessary to entertain. New toys or books, always good. Have her favourite snacks, no matter how unhealthy, they will keep her quiet. Make sure she is drinking and so swallowing on take off and landing.
  2. she can wear just a nappy, she's tiny! Take lots of cream and a full body swim suit. Maybe retire to room with air on on in very hot part of the day. Put her in the pool to cool off. Wet wipes on neck and wrists cool quickly. Make sure she drinks lots. 3)AI places are used to Brits. There will be all manner of pizza, chips and so on. hardly health food but it's only two weeks.
  3. illness is no more or less likely than here, in my experience.
  4. most places have playgrounds and pools. Maybe a beach. Take books, toys, mini DVD player, she will find plenty to do. Inflatables are readily available there. Boat trips are good Turkish people virtually worship kids, especially little fair skinned English ones! DS went for the first time at 3 and was adored, DD at three months. People frequently stopped me in the street to talk to her, ask her name and often kissed her feet! Forget British baby hating attitudes in restaurants and shops. It doesn't matter if she just chucked her dinner everywhere, the staff will clean it up, cooing over her all the while! Pampers and wipes are all readily available. Where exactly are you going, you lucky people?

Ok, calm down Smile

  1. Flights, I'm sure she will sleep, mine have always slept on night flights but if she doesn't just try to amuse her. It will be fine.
  2. If you are all inclusive I am sure you can find something she will eat, if not ask them to make something up for you. They are usually very accomodating in restaurants in Turkey. I used to ask for boiled veg, pasta, rice, soup, scarmbled eggs etc. and give small bits of chicken and fish. And of course you will get loads of lovely fruit too.
  3. Keep her out of direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day but make sure you cover her in lots of high factor sun cream or buy a uv swim suit. I'm sure she will love splashing in the pool or paddling in the sea. Make sure she drinks lots of bottled water, not tap water.
  4. I have been going to Turkey for 20 years, I lived there for 3 years and my youngets daughter was brought up there until she was 18 months old. None of us have ever been ill out there. As long as you take your usual precautions with hand washing you should be perfectly fine.
  5. At 21 months she wont need too much entertaining. My girls were happy in the baby pool or on the beach. There are often little playgrounds around too.

As DrSeuss says Turkish people love children and it is very family friendly out there. Also as mentioned you can get all your nappies, wipes etc. out there but do take nappy sacks as they don't have them.

Now relax and start lokking forward to your holiday.

Which part are you going to?
