Kefalonia in May, any tips and advice for first time traveller

We're going to Kefalonia end of may, would love any tips or advice. It's first time going on a proper foreign holiday so general travel advice from the really basic stuff up, would be really helpful also thanks!

I love kefalonia and can't recommend makis hotel in skala enough. It's right on the beach. My favourite restaurant was just up the hill on the corner on the main square. Fab! I recommend hiring scooters. You will find hidden beaches that are not on the main route. The festival of st gerasimous is worth a look and the wine tour
