We currently live in the US and I have to return to London because of family illness. I'll be flying alone with my 15 month old. Can anyone advise me on what happens on landing? is there any kind of porter service at Heathrow that can help me carry the bags? (as I'll have the pushchair). I have read about Skycaps but apparently you can't book in advance and on busy days they're pretty hard to get hold of. Any tips from anybody who has done this recently?

BTW, I am totally buying DD her own seat! Big respect to anyone who has done long-haul with a toddler on your lap.

On your departure they will meet you and your party on the forecourt and escort your luggage to the check-in desk.

Flying into Heathrow usually sees an early evening or evening departure arriving into Heathrow early to mid morning or early afternoon (dependent of course on where you departed from in the US). You'll likely feel the jetlag flying eastwards as you will "lose" time, you will gain time on the return journey.
