Why is it so hard to find a villa with pool heating, wifi and tasteful decor in Menorca?!

That's it really! Struggling to find a villa with all of the above for a holiday in May. Need pool heating to help DD with her swimming, wifi to keep DH happy and decent (modern-ish) furnishings / decor for me, (before I get slated here, I do understand that taste is personal and that some people really like authentic furnishings. I'm not judging just trying to find what I want!). Anyone have any ideas? Have already searched owners direct, holiday lettings etc...

The villa linked to does look nice but IMO cala'n'forcat is not nice. It's definitely not comparable to pollensa. Can't suggest a villa but did want to confirm your suspicions about cala'n'forcat.

A £15 half wetsuit will allow your DD to be more comfortable in an unheated pool. Our children wear then in the med at the beginning and end of the season. Pools are colder than the sea at these times

Regarding Menorca being different to Majorca - that tends to be a very good thing for the people who prefer Menorca but don't tell everyone, or they'll all want to go there.

Try some of the inland towns or urbanisations, like Sant Climent, Sant Luis, Binixica, Son Vitamina, Alaior or Trebaluger - there are some lovely villas inland and if you hire a car you are free to go wherever you please.

5 minutes walk up Son Bou beach and you'll think you are on a different planet. Acres of space, white sand, azure seas..... (sigh)

I agree - stop dissing Menorca. It's nothing like Majorcathank god !!!!

Also - things really are not "further apart" on Menorca, the Island is tiny, you can travel from extreme East Coast to West in 40 minutes and from North to South coasts in 30 minutes.

Menorca has more beaches than Majorca and Ibiza added together fwiw.

I adore the place and would go and live there tomorrow if I could. It is quiet and I appreciate that some people need constant entertainment on holiday - you won't find that in Menorca.

But for us few who find it and love it - it is heaven.

Thanks so much everyone. Thanks Diabolo for all the tips and I love the wetsuit idea KristinaM. Boo to the idea that Menorca can be rainy when Mallorca dry - was pretty much banking on the idea that we've had two fabulously sunny weeks in Pollensa for the past 2 years and given Menorca's proximity, had assumed it would be the same. Fingers crossed! Getting very excited now!

Ooh, one more question for those that know Menorca well....heated pools aside, I've ruled out Binibeca as the villa I like has a separate annexe with the bedrooms in it and I can't put my 5 year old there on a evening. So, other potential resorts are Son Parc and Son Jaime. We like quieter resorts (e.g. loved Cala san Vincente in Mallorca) but I hear that lots of things have closed down in Son Parc. Is Son Jaime / Bou really commercialised and busy / noisy?

Son Bou is one of the busier resorts on Menorca, but only in that it has more restaurants and a few bars and even a small water park and a bowling alley. It is definitely not for the 18-30 crowd. The beach here is stunning and one we drive to often during our visits to the Island. It is an ideal family resort. Most accommodation is in the Son Jaime part of the resort, and is a series of villas set up the hill overlooking the beach and reed beds, or low rise apartment complexes. The water park is here. When Son Bou was first developed, someone had the bright idea to build two high rise hotels next to the beach, which are a bit of eyesore, but I've learned to ignore them.

Son Parc also has a beautiful beach, but is very quiet, although there a couple of restaurants and bars.

Arenal D'en Castell is also worth a look - we were told it was quite commercialised before we first ever visited, but again it is just a few mostly Menorcan restaurants and bars along the road above the bay. Not rowdy or noisy. Great beach and most the villas there are out on the headland in a stunning location.

I don't like any noise or entertainment at all, so we stay away from the resorts and pick a villa in Sant Climent / Binixica / Son Vitamina which is mostly Spanish owned private villas.

Apologies if anyone thought I was dissing Menorca, I wasn't , all I meant was that it is pretty different from Mallorca, generally quieter and if you were expecting a similar place you may be disappointed.

Looks like it might be the villa with the heated pool but yukky decor - my sensible MIL has persuaded me to think cleanliness rather than style after watching my water babe DD swimming yesterday. Another sacrifice for the kids eh?!?!?!?!? tee hee....

Just a tip, call or email and check in advance that the pool will be heated before you arrive, we had one experience where the heating was only switched on the day we arrived and it took three days for the pool to get to a halfway pleasant temperature...and 4 for ds2 (then 2) to recover from the trauma of throwing himself into the pool on first sight and shooting straight back out, he cautiously eyed it and muttered "too cold" until we successfully coaxed him to try again!

I'm totally with you on the pool heating dilemma. I've too spent a long time searching for this. When youve got young DC's they are in the pool every day & you don't want their lips turning blue!

We had the most perfect villa holiday in Menorca last year over the jubilee week (half term). We rented from villaplus. The pool was a lovely temp and the weather was gorgeous - just one rain shower and temp was high 20's. We stayed in Son Parc in a lovely modern villa (ikea white kitchen, lovely furnishings etc). Yes it's quiet but all we did was hang out at the gorgeous beach and our pool. There's only about 3 reasonably priced restaurants, a few shops and cafe's etc but we chose to drive some nights to Fornells or Arenal del castel next door. There were some great meal deals to be had. There was enough for us for one week of relaxation.

From my research, villaplus is the only website with heated pools and wifi. We've just booked to go to Moraira near Alicante in Spain for that week (admittedly the villa isn't that modern but it ticked all the boxes!).
