I'm planning on flying to Shetland in May. My wee girl will be 13 mo when we go. Does anyone know if it's true that she does not need a passport, only her birth certificate as it is a domestic flight & not international? I am trying to check this on the flybe website but i'm using my phone at the moment & i can't get onto their website for some reason.

That sounds right to me. I'd phone the airport and check, though.

My friend said earlier that that was all I would need but I'll phone the airport tomorrow & double check. Cheers Bertie!

Just check when you ring also if a short birth certificate is OK or if it needs to be the full one. I recently applied for DS' passport and didn't realise that the short certificate doesn't actually show parent's details! :)

I just phoned Flybe and the guy said i don't need any ID for my daughter, as long as I have my ID I can vouch for my wee girl!! Well i'm glad I don't need to fork out money on a passport for her but that could be anyones child I've got & it's perfectly ok to just hop on a plane with them! I know it's just within the UK but just seems a bit odd to me!

The plane to Shetland is very, very small so you feel the pressure changes a lot more. Taking something for her to suck on would be really useful.

It is also a pretty noise flight. However, it is never very busy so there is a good chance that if you are seated on the double seat side of the plane that you will have a spare one next to you.
