Mobile Homes / Chalets in France for less than a week?

We are staying in a gite in Brittany for 1 week but have 5 days before our boat home from Cherbourg (don't know why - seemed like a good idea at the time!). We don't know what to stay in for those few dys. DS will be 1yr so we'd prefer self catering so we can sort his food out, also he goes to bed at 7pm so don't want a hotel room. I think a tent would be too noisy & not dark enough. I had a brainwave that a mobile home would be the solution - but can only find them for a whole week in the high season which makes it bit expensive. Any ideas? This has turned out to be a bit of a ramble!

Some places let you book either 3 or 4 days (ie you split the week with a complete stranger). You could do 4 nights plus a night in a hotel somewhere. I can recommend St Malo Smile

That sound exactly wht I'm after SupplyTeach. But do you know a compny? Hve been trawling through my copy of Alan Rogers guide but ll the sites I find want a whole week. St Malo would be great.

We had a Eurocamp tent hol when DS1 was approaching 2; we solved the noise problem with a cassette player and James Galway tape - the music drowned out random noise until he was asleep, and then he slept through. Tents much cheaper than mobile homes - not sure if Eurocamp types will do 5 day breaks though - when will it be?

chocolateshoes · 01/05/2006 20:17

Peak season unfortunately - start of August

Hm - I just tried it with a random date in August and they want £100s of pounds for 5 nights Angry

chocolateshoes · 01/05/2006 20:22

Oh dear....this is beginning to get annoying & time is moving on......argggghhhh! Thanks JanH!

You can try \link{http://www.siblu.com\Siblu}

I have just checked and you can definitely book for 3 and 4 nights in the high season.

We stayed at Domaine de Kerlann in southern/western Brittany last summer. We took the ferry to and from Cherbourg and had a stop off in St Malo.

Milliways · 01/05/2006 20:23

\link{http://www.siblu.com\Siblu (was Haven)} do short breaks. We have stayed with them loads of times.

chocolateshoes · 01/05/2006 20:23

Thanks SuppTeach - am off to try now!

The Esprit is their smallest & cheapest & it is fine. Can you not request one of these?

Otherwise, Matthews hols are really cheap. They have min, 7 nights but may be cheap enoigh to leave early?

chocolateshoes · 01/05/2006 20:49

No there re no Esprits availble - we've left it far too lte. Will now try Matthews!

Try \link{http://www.welcomecottages.com/uce/welu?goButton=advancedSearch&fromPage=search&region=Normandy&accommonly=on&action=showResults&lang=en&countryId=23&regionId=1148&startdate=4%2F8%2F2006&duration=7&sleeps=3&beds=1&price=5&accommonlyflag=on&x=11&y=12\welcome cottages,} chocshoes.

There are weeks in Normandy for c £4-500. Didn't try Brittany and don't know your dates but have a look!

supplyteacher · 01/05/2006 21:10

Google on 'park holidays normandy' and you get a few choices.

There is an interesting one called Belfontaine that is 800E for a week, but with no specific changeover day so potentially bookable for just 5 nights.
