When you come home from a trip....

....do you unpack your cases straight away?

DD and I got home on Tuesday, and while I've put away her clothes, I've still got my big case sitting full on the floor of my bedroom. Just can't be bothered - would much rather sit online and chat with you lot!

god no I have to do it straight away, cant even go in the living room, straight upstairs with the bags and start the washing

but I am a complete anal freak Grin

BettySpaghetti · 27/04/2006 21:30

No I have to unpack asap -even tend to have the first load of washing in the machine before doing anything else!

I know that if we came home and sat down I'd never get up again.

hulababy · 27/04/2006 21:30

We do it that day, unless home very late. In that case next morning. We don't really have enough room to leave things lying around for long.

BettySpaghetti · 27/04/2006 21:31

but I'm not an anal freak like mosschops Wink

Aimsmum · 27/04/2006 21:31

I have to do it straight away too! Because I know if I don't it will sit for ages and ages! Grin

Poshtart · 27/04/2006 21:33

No Earlybird I am just like you - I get distracted (by something like mumsnet) and the suitcase could sit there for a couple of days!

swedishmum · 27/04/2006 23:04

Being a total slob, just realised I shut a case in dh's study - he's away. I hate post-holiday unpacking. The best one was when the hotel (5*) did all our laundry by mistake. We didn't have to pay, and everything inc baby socks came home wrapped in tissue paper! The laundry bill we didn't pay was £239!

Skribble · 27/04/2006 23:18

I still have 3 cases in the middle of the living room from Sat, I have taken out all the dirty washing and done a couple of loads, the rest has join the everyday laundry in front of the machine doing an impression of Mount Everest (do you think the TA would like to practice on it Grin). There are still some clean clothes and othe tat in them, once I do empty them they can join the queue for the loft at the top of the stairs, Christmas stuff is still patiently queuing.

pebblemum · 27/04/2006 23:19

We unpack straight away but thats usually just to get to all the booze we bought back Grin

Glad to see I'm not the only one who procrastinates! It will get done today as we've got people coming over later....

I unpack straight away..hate to admit it but think I am similar to mosschops....plays on my mind if it sits there for more than 5 minutes!!!

EVERYTHING is also away by the time the cases are empty Blush..I call it organised!!! Grin.

eefs · 28/04/2006 17:02

I unpack 80% that evening and leave the suitcase in a convenient place where I trip over it for about a week or so before unpacking the last bit. I only pack an hour or two before a journey anyway so I reckon it balances out.

I do love packing and finding things I'd forgotten to unpack from a previous trip - like getting new things.

Earlybird · 28/04/2006 17:07

The silly part is that I normally return home with mostly clean clothes, but after sitting in a case for days, it's easier to re-wash rather than dealing with all the wrinkles.

Well I got back on Monday, but my suitcase only got back last night so it's going to be left for a couple of days as punishment for wandering off! Grin

sugarfree · 28/04/2006 17:47

I really need to know how I get a hotel to do my laundry by mistake.
