Hotel rooms with 3 children? What age can children have room of their own?

Hi - hoping for advice about booking into hotel accom with 3 children (one is a baby) and 2 adults..... I've heard that you can only get rooms for 2 adults, 2 children, is this right??? Also what age would you consider letting children have a room of their own? Are there any officlal regulations about this?

Similar position here... There are rooms which accommodate 5 but limited. I think if 3rd child is in a cot you'll be fine with a room for 4.

We're looking at family rooms which have either separate bedrooms or a separate area with a sliding partition door on Thomson.

Sorry, if you're talking about in the UK I don't think you're covered insurance wise for 3rd eg if there was a fire. There are hotels with adjoining doors though.

We let hours have an adjoining room at 8&9, and then a non-adjoining room at 11&12.

When we're en route somewhere we tend now to book a youth hostel family room. Sometimes it's a double with 4 extra bunks, sometimes 5-6 bunks. As we're a 5 it suits us. I wouldn't do a whole holiday that way, but on travelling days it suits us fine. Also much cheaper than 2 hotel rooms!!

Hotel in Ibiza said DDs 14 and 11 had to go one each with DH and me.

They must have known this was never in a million years going to happen.

I think there are 2 things to take account of: what the holiday company say are the rules and how you feel about your individual children. there are a number of specialist websites for families with more than the usual 2+2. we are 5 and have never struggled to find rooms that take all 5 of us. travelodge/premier inn will do 4+cot for aged 2 or under. once they get bigger you have to decide whether to leave them in a room on their own, get adjoining, split the adults or leave it to chance. mine are 15,12 and 10 and sorry wouldnt leave them in a room without adults. Just know that fires never happen until they do and personally would be worried. certainly wouldnt leave a child under 10 in a room.

It is actually for me and my 2 kids plus a friend and her 2 year old (so not really a baby but sleeps in cot still) and I was just wondering how best to do it. We've decided to go away without DH's but also want to keep costs down and wouldn't mind sharing etc.

We book either interconnecting rooms or a suite. I have seen some hotels that have apartments in the grounds but you can still use all the hotel facilities.

If you find somewhere with a large room there might be room for 4 plus a cot. Hotels have done this for us in the past.

Ours were in interconnecting rooms from 6 and 4. No different from being next door at home imo.

When we stayed in a quiet contry hotel with dds for a friends wedding we put them in the room next door with our baby monitor. When we stayed in a London hotel we booked for interconnecting rooms but there was a cock up and we ended up miles apart. I had dd3 with me and dh had the older two in with him. I got a substantial refund from the hotel because of that!
