DH thinks this sounds like a good idea. I need convincing.

Anyone know of any child friendly hotels in this region? Any advice?

A beautiful place to go too.

Not many sandy beaches though, we havent been with kids, but not somewhere that I would go with ours. As sitting on a beach playing with sand is their ideal holiday. But depends what your 6 month old is like.

Just wanted to add though that I have found Italians/Italy really child friendly.

jenkel, thanks for that... I forgot that italians tend to be patient and easy going (even friendly) to people with little ones.

it's just a lot of the brochures and info we have seem to paint it as more of a couples destination, i.e. a great place to honeymoon but please leave your rug rats behind... but maybe that is just the market the brochures are aiming at, and not the reality.

poor little babs hasn't been on a beach yet, but I think she would love a pool maybe!

We stayed at the Hilton in Sorrento last year (youngest was 18m) - no beach but she loved the pools. The year before (she was 6m) we stayed at Venice Lido where there was a beach. Both had babies of all ages. Very relaxed places. I love Italy.

We took DD when she was 6 months last year ... would definitely recommend. We stayed in the town centre, will look up hotel name for you. Bit package for us, but fantastic views over the bay, great breakfasts, really close for all the trips into town in the evening for the bars and restaurants.

DD was regularly spirited away by restaurant staff for a tour of the kitchen while we ate. She also tripped round bars with the waiters and generally was fussed over by the locals big style. Italy is SO good with children, would really love to go back. Smile
