It's recommended on the summer holidays bit on the home page but can anyone give me an idea of what it's like to stay there?
TIA

Haven't been but its not for want of trying...they book out very fast!

welshmum · 25/04/2006 12:48

I've booked us in but wanted some advice from someone who's stayed there. Where to go, what to take and so on.

I am KVG - trust you and yours are good too.
Thanks for the tips - didn't realise it would be quite so hot then (we're going in June)

No - wanted to go to St Gimigiano on last honeymoon but our booking was cancelled in favour of a 'BIG ITALIAN WEDDING!!!'

We ended up going to Ravello & Amalfi and have been since - was great for the kids as a bit cooler being right near the sea and you can go across top Capri and Sorrento and Amalfi is beautiful and so is Ravello!!!

BF has been several times and raves about it and how much her children enjoy it. She is not the absolute arbiter ot excellence in all areas, however. Last time she went there was a famous actor there: can't remember who (she talks a lot and you sort of surf in and out of the conversation while looking resonably animated!) but I'm pretty sure it was Clive Owen.

No idea exactly where it is but if near Florence and Siena then also near Pisa, Lucca and a lovely little seaside place whose name I've completely forgotten, I'll go and search. (It was little 30 years ago anyway Grin)

We went two years ago for a week and really enjoyed ourselves. Our dd was only 2.5 so although we did day trips it was to local hill towns and swing parks. We did a longish trip to Lake Trasimen(t?)o - ferry out to an island and then walk round the island.
There was lots of info at villa pia on where to go - so although I can't remember anything we had lovely food out and good trips.
We only brought 1 half of the baby monitoring system and kept having to go back to out rooms every 30 mins to check she was ok. So just check you take both parts and save yourself some worry.
Our DD had a great time playing with the toys, runing round the garden while we sat back with glasses of wine. Very relaxing holiday with no need or pressure to be on the move.
The only draw back was that it was a bit too english and middle class for my taste but despite this we had a great holiday and I'm sure you will too.

We have just got back and had a great time, very good for the kids, especially smaller ones, beautiful location, lots to see and places to go, we had mostly great weather, the food was lovely and good babysitters. They have a wonderful pool (heated) and tennis court too. You need to be prepared tho for the everyone eats together/lives together, there is not a great deal of privacy and as someone else commented it is very British inspite of the Italian food and staff and very middle class. I would return but only if with a big group of friends to take the whole place over otherwise you have to be prepared to make friends!

Hi there, we've just got back from there too. Had good weather for April, kids spent a lot of time in the pool and we all came back with TANS !! It's a great place to just relax and hang about the villa, but there are loads of good sight-seeing opps too. Our baby had a wonderful time. :)
