In that case try to get hold of one of those universal plugs so you can 'dam' up the shower tray enough to make it into a bath!!

alexsmum · 20/04/2006 14:49

oh lucycat-i'm not pandering! they can have a shower and like it!!!(heartless mummy me you know!)

Just shut the caravan door so the rest of the site can't hear the screams! Grin

Blandmum · 20/04/2006 14:51

With any luck they will be in the pool every day, so that cuts back on the need for showers!

alexsmum · 20/04/2006 15:41

i just hope the pool will be warm enough.we are stuffed otherwise! all ds1 wants from aholiday is apool and some other little boys to runa round with!

When my 2 were smaller I borrowed a baby bath from the reps and we usd that - ds was about 3 and as he's very tall, his knees were up at his ears!! They loved it though! Last year we bathed them in the communal area (meant for the real campers not us mobile homes peeps) and they went in the little baths there which they thought was fab! We do take some inflatables - but remeber a small pump! For bikes we bought a cheap bike rack for the back of the car and told the ferry that 'oh yes, we told French Life about it so should be all paid for' - hah!
If the campsite's on/near a beach then the sandy pitches will probably be enough to keep your ds amused - dd was hapy as larry digging away all day last year.
You'll LOVE it!!! Wego on 12th June and can't wait!!

scienceteacher · 20/04/2006 18:29

The mobile home we were in had a shower with a really deep tray that was designed to be some kind of sitting bath. Definitely fine for kids. Not that any of mine ventured in there during the 10 days of our stay.

We were always at the pool fairly late in the afternoon (they had both indoor and outdoor at our site, with proper showers), and after that we had supper then out for the shows (the kids loved them - no accounting for taste). There wasn't a lot of time for bathing.

alexsmum · 20/04/2006 18:41

the site is 350 yards from the beach.apparently you go over the sand dunes and there it is!
we go on the 30th may so there won't be any entertainment then-i think it's just july and august. ds2 will love the beach but ds1 isn't so keen.the sea tends to kick off his eczema so he would rather hang around the pool.it says the pool has a cover for a gloomy days.really hope the weather is good!
does anyone know if there is a big hypermarket thing thing near caen?

OP posts:
Blandmum · 20/04/2006 18:44

Yes, but there are lots of hypermarkets closer to your site.

There is a very big E l'ecrec just outside Challans

There is another one....which has the best fish dept I have ever seen and a terrific cafe/resturant which is very reasonable at Olon Sur Mer (sp??)

alexsmum · 20/04/2006 18:46

i just thought it might be an idea to go somewhere near the port and stock on wine etc.and some food for the first few days.it's going to be very late by the time we get to the site i think.

OP posts:
alexsmum · 20/04/2006 18:48

i can't wait you know.i'm really looking forward to the change(it won't be a rest!)
because it's something so new as well it's more of an adventure.

\link{http://www.e-leclerc.com/c2k/portail/storelocator/home.asp\this will let you find the nearest store}

My advice would be to take enough for overnight and breakfast in a cool bag. The site will probably have a shop to buy breakfast stuff.

there are excellent hypermarkets in the vendee and it will save you time and hassle transporting the stuff to the site.....which will take you about 3/4 hours IIRC

alexsmum · 20/04/2006 18:54

so have you done this a lot mb?

OP posts:
Blandmum · 20/04/2006 18:58

We are going to the vendee this summer and this will be our 4th time! We love it!

We have also gone to Britteny twice and before we had kids drove all the way down to the south coast and back.

I love France and the French.

Camping/caravaning there is great because the sites are so good. And then you have the french food and wine.....bliss!!! Grin

We are going to St Julien Des landes (again) but have also been to St Jean des Monts.

St hilaire is very nice. All the beaches are wonderful....clean gently shelving, often with pine forests. Google Angela Bird, vendee and you will get to a great site (her book is also excellent) with loads of ideas of what to do
