Can't help, but think you can fly from Prestwick to Beauvais(sp?)just outside- think equivelent of Prestwick. I know when dh flies to Paris he has to go via London. Also will depend on which hotel you want to stay in- on site or a bit further away.

MrsMuddle · 18/04/2006 20:22

We went in Sept a couple of years ago. Got really cheap flights from Prestwick, leaving at the crack of dawn. Took 2-hour bus ride from Beauvais (sp?) into city centre, then tube (1 hr) to Disneyland. Got a family room - one double, and bunk beds at the Santa Fe hotel. In total, for flights and accomm for 4 people we paid about $400. (Sorry - can't do pound sign on this PC) BUT that was two years ago, and the flights were about 5p each before taxes. Hope this is helpful.

Aimsmum · 18/04/2006 20:37

Try looking on expedia. I got a really cheap deal from there last summer.

Flew Glasgow to Birmingham and then Birmingham to CDG which worked out cheapeer still. We went for a week the last week in july 2 adults and a child, stayed just outside the resort. For all flights, accommodation, meals, taxes, insurance etc, it was a total cost of £550!

hullabaloo · 18/04/2006 20:53

Don't go to Going Places. I tried to price two adults and a 5 yo to go last week and was quoted almost £1400 to fly from Glasgow and stay 3 nights at the Hotel Cheyenne! needless to say we didn't go! Thought about going at the Sept weekend but worried what the weather might be like. Let us know how you get on!

ssd · 18/04/2006 22:04

like the cost of Aimsmums!!

Can you give me a bit of info about the hotel you stayed in? Sounds good to me.

Also is CDG the nearest airport? Can you get a bus or a train out to Disney from there?

We are trying to do this the CHEAPEST way possible!!

thanks

yeah cdg is the nearest airport to disneyland. There is a train that runs from the airport to the park and there are also buses and taxis. We went for a taxi as the difference in price wasn't much more than 3 train tickets and was far less hassle.

the hotel I stayed in was outside the resort, but close to a train station and to get the train to the park took literally 4 mins.

I'll see if I can link to it on expedia for you, but not sure if it will work!

Aimsmum · 18/04/2006 22:14

Oh, should mention that my price didn't include entry to the park!

Aimsmum · 18/04/2006 22:18

It wont let me link to it, but it is called Hotel PremiereClasse de Bussy Saint Georges.

But there are a few more in the area too, if you price it up on expedia.

ssd · 19/04/2006 07:47

thanks.

I'll check out expedia, do they arrange it for you? I haven't ever used the net for a holidayBlush, haven't a clue really!

we are thinking of Euro Disney as we might be getting some windfall shares from Standard Life, that's the only way my 2 will get to Disney!Grin But we still need to do it as cheaply as poss.........Did you book it all separately? Is this a lot cheaper than a travel agent? Any advice appreciated!

OP posts:
ssd · 19/04/2006 07:49

BTW when checking expedia for flights I found flying from Glasgow costs a bomb. How do you find out where it's cheapest to fly from?

Blush told you I haven't a clue!!!

OP posts:
Aimsmum · 19/04/2006 09:44

I found the glasgow flights with expedia really cheap.

What kind of dates are you thinking of and I will have a wee look for you.....it's a quiet morning in work!! Wink

My mum is expecting that standard life thing too....and I have been promised a holiday from itGrin

daisy1999 · 19/04/2006 09:47

there's a thread somewhere about tesco vouchers - I think 9but not sure) you can use these for disneyland if you have any.

ssd · 20/04/2006 08:08

sorry I haven't got back Aimsmum!

We'd have to go in the school holidays, I don't like it too hot, so maybe the Sept. weekend would be better for us.

TBH maybe I'm kidding myself and we should wait until we see what we are offered from Standard Life, papers are saying between £500 and £1700. fingers crossed its nearer the £1700!!!

Thanks for your help, I might revive this thread when I know the amount hopefully coming our way!

definitely go from Prestwick to Beauvais- with Ryanair you can get very cheap flights. The bus from Beauvais to Paris take 1 hr 15 mins and costs 16 euros each (I think). You then get a metro from the Palais de Congres and change after a couple of stops onto the RER which takes you all the way to Disney very easy very cheap.

tissy · 20/04/2006 09:02

Ok, if you booked today, you would pay about £400 for all 4 of you to get to Paris (Flights £342, bus to Paris about £70). The train tickets can't be booked online, I don't think, but cost us £30 return for three of us, so say £40 for 4 of you. So, £440 to get you there and back. HOWEVER, flights would probably be cheaper if you left it to nearer the travel date (although you'd have to keep checking). We got to Paris and back this way for £150 (2 adults and 1 child).

Aimsmum · 20/04/2006 10:02

I had a wee look on expedia for you! Say you went september weekend friday to monday (22nd - 25th of sept) it's coming out at a total of £683 for the hotel I stayed in for the four of you including flights etc!

Obviously your park tickets would be more!

HTH and fingers crossed for nearer the £1700 Grin

ssd · 20/04/2006 10:18

thanks tissy and Aimsmum!

I'll definately get back to this thread when Standard Life cough up {if they do!!}.............

PS How much are the park tickets? And is it really expensive when you get there?

Also how many nights was that for Aimsmum?

OP posts:
Aimsmum · 20/04/2006 10:26

That was for 4 days/3 nights.

A three day park pass is about £70 for an adult and £50 for a child I think.

It can be expensive but you could quite easily do it on the cheap, buy taking packed lunches, own drinks and things with you to the park as that is what can really add up!

I didn't spend as much as I imagined I would and I bought loads of rubbish and stuff for DD too! The park tickets are the biggest outlay, but that could be you for a whole day from early morning til about 11pm, and the rides and shows are obviously free, so you are only really spending on what you buy, if that makes sense!

tissy · 20/04/2006 11:17

you're not supposed to take packed lunches/ drinks in though (says so in the rules!).Didn't see any bag searches going on when we were there, but you'd have to be pretty discreet about your lunch if you did. There are no picnic areas that I can recall.

Actually, one of my gripes about Disney was the lack of food in the park that dd would condescend to eat! She's a picky little madam at the best of times, but does eat a variety of food. The only thing she would touch when we were there was breaded fried fish in the shape of a dolphin, oh and chocolate mousse, of course. This was in the Auberge de Cendrillon, and cost nigh on 20 euros for her mealShock. If you don't want fizzy pop, the only cold drink you can buy in the park is water at 4 euros a bottle. We ended up buying a "souvenir" drinking flask from one of the stands and filling it with tap water in the hotel. Even if you ask for a carafe of water in the restaurants, they just decant a bottle of still mineral water into the carafe and charge you for it. Grr.

Spend as little money as possible to get there, as you will be fleeced once inside!

ssd · 21/04/2006 07:41

that's terrible! why can't you take in packed lunches? and I'd want some diluting juice as well. If we do go we'll have to be sneaky........

just a thought, what if you had a child with food allergies, you might need your own food....didn't know there was any rules.....

{ssd in a strop now!!}

Aimsmum · 21/04/2006 09:40

Have a search of some of the disneyland threads on here, everyone takes food and drinks in, yeah it says you can't but it can be done easily.

They check your bags on the way in, but i quite blatently had drinks as did most others in front of me and I never even heard it be mentioned!

I wouldn't worry about that!! Smile

Tortington · 21/04/2006 09:57

we were never checked - mention something about diabetes Grin

Skribble · 27/04/2006 00:17

We found it was cheapest for us to fly with Ryan air, the first time we hired a car as I had a last minute panic when I discovered the Disney shuttle bus didn't stop there. (before MN)

The second time we go the bus into Paris from Beuvais (10E at the time), we stayed in Paris and got the train out to Disney.

If you want the ful on disney and have never been before you will want to spend at least 2 days in the park. I would have a look at \link{http://www.disneylandparis.com/uk/good_to_know/tickets_entrees_park/packages_and_options/price_grid.htm\Disney's own site} I found it was cheapest for on site packages. Entrance is included so you can get the most amount of time in the park.

Skribble · 27/04/2006 00:19

Oh and for pack lunches if you want to take the full monty complete with basket and retro flasks there are lockers just outside the main entry. If you just want to take a few munches and drinks don't worry about it.
