Have been looking in to hols (see Mousses thread) and got a good quote for Perili...£1,500 for a week...
Having never done one of these hols before (need childcare SAHM needs a break!)
Not sure I'll be up for constant activity...would like to just chill!
Anyone been? Am I being thick?!

Dh learned to sail, I read 7 books in two weeks. Like you I was a SAHM and in dire need of a holiday.

Bloody expensive tho!

My kids are older now and we go camping Grin

Corrin · 10/04/2006 11:24

Reading books sounds perfect!!!

Expensive while you're there too? Wouldn't want to spend much more...

No, you have to pay for lunch??? Cn't quite remember.

I know that the holiday cost a bloody fortune.

Only really works if your kids are joiner inners IYSWIM.

Corrin · 10/04/2006 11:31

Sounds a bit risky for a first time doing a hol like that...back to drawing board!

could look at Mark Warner? if you've got pre-school kids can get good discount for termtime..we've been a coupole of times with MW - ok as desperte for break with childcare..found it rather full on - lots of sporty types, emphasis on site-based activity whereas I wanted either to chill or to escape in a hire car at the earliest opportunity to actually see where we were staying - culture/sights/cafes etc. If you're into sport or just want to relax poolside with kids in (excellent) childcare, MW could be for you..

MissChief · 10/04/2006 11:38

sorry, that wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement was it? MW is loved by many though (check other threads in archive for some recomms)

Corrin · 10/04/2006 11:46

Thanks...have looked at that after reading MN reviews...currently £1800...wondering whether to leave it to last minute (want to go 20th May ish) to see if gets cheaper..

OP posts:
MissChief · 10/04/2006 11:48

mw do normally have great last minute offers (think to go roughly same month as offer published), around half-term does push the price up substantially though

Corrin · 10/04/2006 11:50

Is 20th May half term? Blush

OP posts:
MissChief · 10/04/2006 11:52

think it'[s the following week but prices for wk beofre and after often higher as many go for 2 weeks, annoying isn't it?

Corrin · 10/04/2006 11:53

Can do without that...DD starts school in Jan...then there's no more flex!
Do you know anything about ClubMed MissChief?

The beauty about holidays like Sunsail is that there's absolutely no obligation to 'do' anything. So if your children and dh want to charge around for a week or so doing all the activities possible, then great....you can just chill out by the pool/beach. We've been to Sunsail Malverde in Turkey and it was excellent. Childcare to keep the small people amused and lots of sailing to keep dh busy. I did go out in the dingys a few times and we did charter a day-boat out to do a longer sail so we could visit somewhere nice for lunch - but for the rest of the time, I just chilled out on a sun lounger or spent time with dd - when she wasn't at the kids club!!

Expensive yes but worth it in my book.

MissChief · 10/04/2006 11:57

sorry, not first hand.. think the S.Times had an article recently on family holiday which compared them with MW/sunsail, could google? From memory, said it was very French for good (food mainly) and for bad (kids found it hard in kids club as English not much spoken & noisy partying going on till wee small hours)

Blackduck · 10/04/2006 12:10

With HA on this - done Javelin (thanks MN!) and Perili and going back to Perili in 5 weeks time. I had never sailed in my life (neither had dp) - he loves it, I veg out. Childcare excellent - ds has a wonderful time. Half board, but the booze bill can push the cost up...you could try hanging on -they do discunt quite heavily if you are able to go at the last minute...

Corrin · 10/04/2006 12:11

Ahhhhhh
MW quotes are £2000 (i'm sure its going up) only have availability for Lakitira and San Agostino (£1,985 or £2,050).
:(

Thanks Handbagaddiction (great name by the way), Sunsail looking the nest option at £1,587...in Perili...

How old are your kids blackduck?

OP posts:
Blackduck · 10/04/2006 12:41

Just the one - aged 3....first time we went he was 1. But all the other kids I've seen seem to love it - the staff are really good with them and keep them on the go....

Corrin · 10/04/2006 13:23

The quote I've got is for going on 20th May..is that same as you???

OP posts:
Blackduck · 10/04/2006 13:30

Yes we are there that week....(actually doing 2 weeks as haven't had any time off in nearly two years....)

Sponge · 10/04/2006 13:33

We've done sunsail with dd when 1, 2 and 3. Neither of us sail although we had a go a couple of times. Also had a day out at ruins etc from Perili. Plus you can dive from the Turkish resorts which we do.
Perili is the nicest one I've been to.
I'm really not sporty but enjoyed it very much. Extremely relaxing. And we did meet some really nice people who we still see occasionally.
Not much more to be spent on top of the holiday price - local booze is pretty cheap.

Corrin · 10/04/2006 13:39

All sounding really nice for Sunsail...have got it reserved, now just need to get DH to say yes...

Me again...is room with shower rather than bath normal?? Kids used to bed at bathtime...

OP posts:
Blackduck · 10/04/2006 14:45

Always had a shower...How old are the kids? If they are little they will give you a baby bath...
