Lovely little outdoor place in the Victoria and Albert museum - if it's warm. Nice little italian place for yummy soup or ciabatta things opposite Brompton Oratory (opposite side of road from Nat Hist - a couple of shops beyond the Rembrandt hotel) - a bit smokey but great food.

The Blue cafe (I think that's what it's called) in the Science Museum next door is nice, if a bit pricey,

There's always McDonalds......

It used to have an indoor picnic area where you could eat your own packed lunch - I remember being taken there as a kid on school trips.

Maybe not what you're looking for though?

A lot of places round there - really depends what you want. I like two places bang next door to South Ken tube station - a chinese canteen type place for a quick lunch on the run, or a polish restaurant (Daquise) for something a bit unusual.

Lots of pizza chains around too.

Look up via google or online eating guide, but I always like Rotisserie Jules (roast chicken and chips is menu focus), or Jakob's.

There's a Carluccio's Caffe near South Ken tube too

Charmkin - GloucesterRoad tube, there is an Ask.

South Ken tube - Pizza organic.

Also another pizza chain opp. Glouc road tube.

I think P. Express nearby also. Loads of places - don't bother booking unless you're bringing an army

Well the pizza was best bit of the day!

Rainy bank holidays are not the best time visit a museum and it was hideous! You are herded round like cattle and knocked out by massive rucksacking tourists with bo at every turn! The whole place was practically one way and sooooooooo heaving we left after a couple of hours.

Sure it never used to be like that!

agree with elastamum, the place inside NHM was very nice.

Just went yesterday, as a matter of fact, and on S. Kens. High St., there's a Giraffe and Wagamama on the Royal Albert side of the street- so only a 10-15 min walk at most. Both are very child friendly, though haven't been to Wagamama there and not sure whether it's on two levels or not or whether there's a lift. Most wagamama's do have a lift if it's on two levels!!
