We're down there next week. Staying in Tenby. I'd second Folly Farm, but also might be worth visiting the \link{http://www.thedinosaurpark.co.uk/\dinosaur park}, but your 2.5 year old might not get too much out of it. Mine are 6 and 2.3, but we may go anyway...
Hope the weather's goodSmile. There's a soft play-type place in Tenby called Ocean Commotion - haven't been, so no idea what it's like. Could also go on a boat trip, if the sea's fairly calm.

cd m is dinosaur obsessed!

hello btw :)

moondog · 08/04/2006 22:25

Have a nice time CD!
Not my part (more dh's) but Solva is lovely and the birthplace of the great protest singer Meic Stevens (sort of a Welsh Bob Dylan)who is loved by many!

(Blimey, you had your children close together didn't you?? Hats off for even thinking about a holiday!!)

BadHair · 08/04/2006 22:49

Definitely Folly Farm - but you have to make a full day of it as there's so much to do. And take a picnic unless you have a bottomless wallet as the food there is really expensive.
The Dinosaur Experience is OK too. Bit dull for adults, unless you like walking round a trail hunting for blatantly obvious dinosaurs, but my dses loved it when we went.
If weather is nice there is a lovely beach at Angle - really quiet apart from University Geologists and old people. Henry VII landed there when he came back from France to claim the throne, if history floats your boat.
Manorbier Castle and beach - ds1 was 4 last time we went and he still talks gleefully about the dungeon. And if you see a kite stranded in the bushes at Manorbier beach, it's ours. Dses still talk about it in the hushed tones normally reserved for bereavement.
Boat trip from Tenby round Caldy Island - you can see the seals. Best to go before you have a big lunch rather than after else you're liable to nod off with the gentle rocking.
There's a chocolate factory at St Neotts (I think) - not much activity but good excuse to stuff faces.
IF all else fails go and watch the big ferry going out of Milford Haven/Pembroke Dock.
Can you guess that we've had one or two holidays in Pembrokeshire? It's a really lovely place.

I agree Folly Farm is a great day out. If you are looking for something a little different there is a new place called The Teddy Workshop 186 Prendergast in Havefordwest, Pembrokeshire. My children had a lovely time making their own teddy and choosing an outfit. Their teddies haven't left their side since. It's a bit like Build a Bear but much more interactive and personal service.

Off to Bluestone later in the year so watching with interest.

Jellykat · 12/07/2012 20:56

There's also Anna Ryder Richardsons' zoo - it's well worth a visit

www.manorhousewildlifepark.co.uk/home

and i recommend the beach at Newport, just up from Fishguard if it ever stops raining here Smile

MikeFlood · 12/07/2012 21:16

Folly Farm is fab - and lots of undercover activities too if it's raining. They take clubcard days out vouchers too. We enjoyed Pembroke Castle, Manorbier, Bosherton Lakes and St Davids. We took DS (4 at the time) and DD (15mths) to Caldey Island on the boat - lovely!

Elpis · 25/07/2012 23:13

Can also recommend Manorbier Castle. Went as a child, took DD last year. The boat trip to Caldey Island is fun for kids and not long enough to induce sickness. Once there the monks will try to extract as much money as possible from you, so be strong. Wink

Tenby beach is fab, we have made sandcastles in wellies and waterproofs in the past.... Fish and chips in Fecci's on Lower Frog Street followed by an ice cream sundae in the other Fecci's round the corner, then a horse and carriage ride courtesy of Mr Ed then pottery painting down the street.

Manorbier Castle has the funniest waxworks I have ever seen.

Freshwater East is a lovely beach for walks, and rock pools at low tide, and the Freshwater Inn does decent food.

If you fancy a mooch in a town, Narbeth is sweet and has lovely cafes and independent shops.

Pembroke Castle is great.

I love Pembrokeshire....

Where in Pembs will you be?
