Idiot's Guide to London

My in-laws are over from France this weekend and as they've never been to the UK before, and will probably never come again (!), I feel I should really take them to London, baby.

I'd like to know the biggest things that one would go and see and the tube stations to get to them, or at the very least, a site where i could find that stuff out. Also a nice place, not to pricey, to have lunch, that's baby-friendly.

Thanks iin advance MNers Smile

Paddington to Charing Cross is quite easy as they are both on the Bakerloo line. Should take about 15 mins I should think. I once managed a toddler, a babe in arms and a double buggy alone on the tube, often had to collapse the buggy to go up escalators and steps. had to hold buggy in one hand, baby in the other arm and hope toddler kept walking. But even in cold unfriendly London, there were lovely people who helped. If you are with your family, you should be able to manage all right. You get to go through the disabled access gate at the ticket barrier which can mean you jump the queue a bit!

Evansmummy, Giraffe is a new chain of family-centred restaurants offering world cuisine that appeals to children and adults, and a play area etc. They are supposed to be terrific but I wouldn't know because there are none round where I live Envy and dh would not queue for 15 mins to get in the S Bank on Sunday Envy Envy

tbh I think going to Camden in the afternoon is pushing it a bit. It is no fun squashing kids and the older generation onto the tube for more journeys than absolutely necessary imho.

As long as the weather is ok, I would just ramble along the south bank like everyone says, maybe walk over the Millennium Bridge to st Paul's, eat lunch somewhere in the middle, go to Borough Market (Southwark) etc.

Borough Market lovely but can be extremely crowded (I would go Friday afternoon if taking a child in a buggy) and is on Fridays and Sats.
