Hiya
Im trying to plan a round the world tip, it wont be for a long time, but trying to get some sort of cost sorted (to start saving)!!
Me and my dh have thought of New York, florida (disney and miami), one of the carribean islands, (been to Jamaca and love it), over to Los Vegas, Grand Canyon, then up to Alaska. Other places are New Zeland (dont know exactly where though), Australia (week in Sidney, week on beach), one of the pacific lsles (tonga etc), maldives, thiland, south africa, kenya.
Anywhere else that you think would be suited for 2 adults and 2 children? Do you think a holiday like this is possible?
where in each place is suitable for us?
Sorry for all the questions!!
Thanks

Sounds great, how old are your kids and what amount of time will you be squeezing it all in. We have done 2 mini round the world trips before kids, LA, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand and then Singpore. Phillipines, Micronesia, Australia, New Zealand. I would love to do it again but dont think I could cope with a 2 year old and 3 1/2 year old at the moment, though we have been to Australia with them.

Sounds great - I'm so jealous!

We had 7 months travelling with dd, who was just under 2 when we set off. NZ is a dream with kids - there are playparks everywhere and so many child-friendly restaurants. DD doesn't remember too much from the trip - but some experiences like riding on an elephant in Sri Lanka still come up. I would definitely recommend SLanka providing the political situation is calm enough - it's such a beautiful place and with loads for kids to enjoy (elephant sanctuary, monkeys, great beaches, etc.)

In the US are you planning to go from Vegas to Alaska overland? If so thoroughly recommend going via Yellowstone (Buffalo, geysers) and the ferry from Vancouver up to the top of Canada was great - really relaxing for parents as there is a soft play centre on the boat and loads of other kids for them to play with. In the summer they do a ferry that goes right up into Alaska (I know that's not strictly overland, but if you've the time it makes a change from all the flights).

The beach area we enjoyed most near(ish) Sidney was Jervis Bay (a few hours south). Really quiet and quite different from the resorts nearer Sidney - depends what you and your kids are into I suppose.

Sorry for going on a bit - I think I have itchy feet as it's so long since our trip... Good luck with the planning.

Did I kill your thread?

for australia - I would recommend a few days in Sydney - a couple of days in Alice Springs so you can see Uluru - outback experience and then perhaps somewhere like Cairns so you can do the whole great barrier reef, rainforest experience from Cairns as a base - that way you have a little taste of Aus.

Rather than Thailand - Singapore is fabulous.

Singapore is not to be missed and very child friendly

When I went travelling I visited Singapore, Thailand, Australia, NZ, Fiji, and the US. My fave place was NZ, it was absolutely beautiful, clean, full of amicable people so much so that im hoping to emigrate with ds in a few yrs. I would say travelling in NZ and OZ was easier than anywhere else i visited, as the transportation options and choice of accomodation was so vast. there are an abundance of trip operators, which can also make it better or worse for you, depends on what you like. I combined my travels with both independent travelling and did a cpl of trips. Singapore is pretty easy to, as it's not very big. Its also extremely clean! compared to other parts of asia and in fact the rest of the world!

best of luck x

Just wanted to add that Singapore is also great, very clean, very safe and lots to do. Also been to Fiji which was an experience, if you get the chance I would try to go to one of the Pacific Islands. And I just love Sydney.

Havent read all the thread but kuredu in the maldives is great but not sure if you would be staying for a week? Good for the kids. Very good rates compaired to alot of other maldive island.

Taj Mahal is great for kids as it is not often that they will see something so fantastic. Take some chalk and the ants which agra seems to be famous for are around.
