Anyone been recently? I'll be traveling with my then 9month old. I want a nice hotel centrally located. Will pay a lot but the Grand, which everyone says is so nice, seems T I R E D. Thoughts?

Sorry went 5 years ago (with baby) and stayed with friends.... loved it!

I went last year. I stayed at a perfectly pleasant relatively cheap hotel - the Tegnerlunden hotel on Tegnerlunden. It's about a ten minute walk from the centre. And it did lovely breakfasts. Suspect it won't be swish enough for your requirements. Stockholm is a fab place - beautiful and incredibly chilled out for a capital city.

Grand a bit old world imo - stayed there once and very businessy and old lady. Dh stayed there a lot but said some rooms were better than others.
I like the Lydmar but maybe not with baby - funky jazz bar as reception. Berns hotel is certainly v trendy (Conran restaurant) and very central - dh likes it. Only eaten /drunk there myself. Spent a month in the Sheraton w 4 kids - fine but businessy. Also stayed at various Radissons there - some have pools. Nordic hotels (there are 2) look smart but I haven't tried them. One has an ice bar though - fun but maybe not at 9m... Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton on Gamla Stan both look very tired/dodgy looking imo though 4 star I think. Try to find a book called Hg2 Stockholm - trendy travel guide. Beware anything too close to central station - bit of a wino area but not at all dangerous.

Went recently at stayed at the Rival hotel which was about a 10 min walk to the city centre bit. There is a park across from it for kids. Stayed there without dd but there were people there with kids. There is a great cafe and it was all really kid friendly. My only advice to you if you do book there is to ask for something not above the restaurant as it gets very busy and noisy at the weekends.

Think the website is \link{http://www.rival.se/\here}

Used to work for Stockholm based company and have stayed in more or less all of the hotels. Without hesitation I recommend the Nordic's - Nordic Sea and Nordic Light. (Would be a different recommendation if you didn't have kids, but these are the two you want if you have little ones). The prices are good for Stockholm, and they are situated virtually on the platform of the airport express train (though not bothered by noise). The decor of the rooms is up-market Ikea so you don't have to worry about the kids breaking anything, and everything is really new and modern. The only thing you don't get is a view.
If you wanted something more old-fashioned or homely or romantic then the Lady Hamilton & Lord Nelson are both a good price and based in the old town which is really pretty. But rooms FAR TOO SMALL for kids.
Enjoy Stockholm and take the kids to the vassermuseaum and the djeerpark (very dodgy spellings there but the concierge will know where you mean)...

We went 4yrs ago and stayed with friends so can't help with the accomodation. Very child friendly place, everyone friendly and could walk everywhere we wanted to, rather than tackle public transport with a pram. dd1 was 4mths old and it was her first holiday so it must have been ok as we were complete novices to travelling with a baby and we had a relaxing time Grin
