maybe this is a daft question but can you use boiled tap water to make up formula? Friend said she boiled bottled water. Does bottled water not have minerals in it the baby should not have? I am bf too so it is just for a bit of supplementary feeding.

God,I wouldn't bother.
B/feeding is so much less hassle-especially on holiday. Smile

Agree with moondog but if you do want to use formula you have to use the bottled water AFAIK. It's not actually mineral water so doesn't have too high a minerala content which the tap-water does. may depend on which part of Spain though?

hi i asked my hv this 2 years ago when i took my 5 month and she said boiled bottle water but not evian i can't remember why seems strange now Smile

chipmonkey · 28/03/2006 00:49

I thought evian was the only one you could use for babies! Evian in France even do a little teat that you attach to the top of an evian bottle for them to drink out of.

Agree with the bf'iong on hols. I have done it seversal times and you can be so discreet. If you can do it that way go for it.

learning · 28/03/2006 01:12

Sorry missed the first proper thread. If it is for supplementary why not bring raedy made milks with you. Thres loads of them. Save on mixing etx...

chipmonkey · 28/03/2006 03:03

No point in being discreet if you're already topless by the pool though!!Grin

moondog · 28/03/2006 09:54

That's an interesting concept cm.
I never really thought of that. Grin

It's the sodium content you need to check on, You will need to check the sodium levels on the label. A sodium level of less than 20mg per litre is OK, but less than 10mg per litre is preferable.

This link says that whilst in France you could use Evian or Vittel (i think Volvic is also another one - the link for spain didn't mention any one by name)

so I would check the sodium level on these if they are in a supermarket near you and then you can simply check the sodium level on the Spanish ones....anyone know the Spanish for Sodium?! Smile
