Furnished Rentals

Hi Smile This is my first message here, so I am hoping this is the right place for this question.
My family and I are planning on moving to England (we are in the US now) and I've been searching for some sort of site that would list 'vacation rental' type places but without the immense price that all vacation rental places I keep coming across have. Maybe that did not make sense, what we are trying to do is rent a home short term (a month or so) that is furnished so we have a base to call home while we search for more permanent places. Does anyone have any ideas? We are currently looking at Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Cornwall, etc. But generally anywhere in the south half of England.

It's impossible to mention places without reference to budgets! The southern part of England is a pretty varied place in that regard. Is there not somewhere you need to be in relation to work etc or are you truly flexible? As you have a 15 year old you do know that he/she will be entering school half way through the GCSE syllabus? This will make school choice vital. What sort of place do you want to be- city, town, village, rural? What size of house do you need? How much money do you have to spend? Have you tried relocation agents?

Yes you really need a more specific area.

Kent for example is the only area that still has grammar schools ( high standard, have to pass an exam for entry).
But the areas near the schools may be over budget

London and surrounding areas are probably def out of budget unless in a not so nice area. £1200 where I live would get you a studio maybe a 1 bed flat if lucky

Try looking on zoopla/ right move for ideas once you have a vague idea of area. Bare in mind that to get into most schools you have to live in the catchment area. Many catchments are only 1-2 miles from schools.

You would also need a primary and secondary school due to their age, and eldest may have to go back a year as would be in the middle of gcses exams ( age 14-16 roughly). You can't go on to higher education really at any level without gcses

Are you looking for city or country life? Also bare in mind the cost of petrol and public transport in the uk. Living far from work/ schools would probably mean a large travel budget.

Do you have to be anywhere for work? Maybe if you explain the ideas for coming to the UK, we can point out some great areas...... It's a huge task, so good luck
