Tunisia with children

Hi any one done the above? I would like to try it so i can give the kids a beach holiday but take in the sites and learn about a different culture too. They will be about 7 and 4 when I plan to go so wondering about the hawker/hassle element. It doesn't bother me too much as long as they stop if we ignore them. But wonder if a frenetic atmosphere whilst touring around would be a bit overwhelming for the kids, or am i worrying too much!?

Many thanks

Sorry that should be 'sights'. Poor kids aren't going to learn much from me are they! ha ha.

Went there when my son was six/ seven , during February half term . We had a great time weather was nice and warm not too hot . Yes we got pestered a fair bit by people trying to sell stuff , some of who wouldn't take no as an answer .
Still enjoyed the holiday , son had a wonderful experiences , went to where filmed star wars , caves type place , riding camels , oasis . Yeh had loads to do not greatly expensive , but going back six / seven years now .
You kids will gain so much by just doing things , don't over think everything , use to do that too , now just go with flow , we also had some wonderful trips around the world and taken loads of new experiences from where ever we been . Go and enjoy would be my take on it .

Hopefully the trouble that has all kicked off again there in the last 48 hours will have died down again. I know it did not directly affect the seaside resorts last time - so fingers crossed.

I have been twice. Once pre kids and did alot of sight seeing by train and local transport. Went when the DC were small and stayed Half Board and did not tend to venture out of the hotel too much. The few times we did - we seemed to get alot more hassle from locals etc than we did when we went pre-kids. My eldest who was about 7yo at the time didnt like it and felt uncomforatble being harrassed - so after the first few times we rarely ventured out.

I wouldnt be booking to go anytime soon with all this trouble and would not be keen to book far in advance - incase it all kicks off on a long term basis.

As an alternative that can be just as interesting if you don't want to do Tunisia , try morocco , lots of interesting things to see and do . There also resorts near beaches if that's part of what your looking for . Maybe a little bit more expensive but not much .

I visited Tunisia about 6 years ago, with DS (then 6) and hated every minute of it, sorry.

Constant harassment, a chap on the beach giving out "free" cuddly toys to your kids, then trying to charge parents the equivalent of £20 for it Confused, we stayed near Monastir and it was dirty and dismal and awful.

Turkey and Morocco were divine in comparison. Very little hassle and a lot more culture.
