ideas for Turkey

Does anyone have any recommendations for Turkey? We have 3 DCs who will be aged between 6 and nearly 11. We would like somewhere walking distance to the beach, family friendly, not too lively but lively enough so that we have something to do until 10pm. And a sandy beach please (we live in a seaside town with a shingle beach). The plan is to rent an apartment to keep costs down.

Me and DH went to Olu Deniz 10 years ago and found it to have the right level of 'liveliness' iyswim with plenty to do. This time we'd like to try a different area.

TIA

have a look at Bitez, on the Bodrum Peninsula. It is a nice little resort with plenty of restaurants and a couple of bars and everything is set along the beach front, which is pedestrianised so no worries about traffic.

Bitez is about 45 minutes from Bodrum airport and is 15 minutes by bus from Bodrum town.

There are some nice apartments there, Basri apartments are my favourite.

I loved this place, stunning scenery, great beach, watersports, but all in a fairly small town run as a co-operative with a lovelty atmosphere and very Turkish (when the call to prayer sounds, everything shuts down for 15 minutes).

Turunc is lovely too, I just didn't like the 2 hour transfer and the drive round the mountain to get there Smile

sootica agree. Our minibus driver took those mountain bends at about 80mph too - seriously thought I was a gonner. Grin

Thanks everyone. I'm looking at Bitez at the moment. Can you tell me if the beach is sandy or shingle? I live in a seaside town with a shingle beach so would like sand!

The beach is part shingle and part sand. The main part is quite shingly but if you walk along it gets wider and sandier and there are less people too. It is better along that part too because on the main part there are a few stones going into the sea but further along there aren't any, there are still plenty of sun beds and places to eat along there but most people just don't bother to walk the few minutes further. The sea is clear and is shelves gently so is good for children.
