All inclusive with adjoining rooms - is it possible?

We want to go away over Christmas as we haven't yet had a holiday this year. DH is keen for some sunshine so we were thinking Canary Islands maybe. We have 3 kids aged 7, 5 and 1.

The thing is, we've only ever been self catering in lodges, caravans etc with the kids, never stayed in a hotel with them. Neither of us are keen to share a room all 5 of us, and I was wondering if anyone else had ever stayed in adjoining rooms. DH works away a lot so it would be lovely to have some privacy at night. I can't imagine dtd with the dc in the same room!

We stayed AI in the Gran Castillo in Lanzarote and I can really recommend it. They have 'family' rooms - huge bedroom and living room. Then you close dividing doors at night and Dc sleep in the living room side in sofa bed and/or free cot.

A friend of mine stayed with 3 older kids and they had a more palatial set up with 2 bedrooms and separate living room - not sure if that was dependent on the number of children?

I'm pretty sure you can get AI holidays that offer apartments instead of just one room. Lanzarote does a lot of AI holidays. It might not be that hot at Christmas though.

Thanks for your replies, I'll look at the Gran Castillo thanks, always good to hear a recommendation.

Holiday village in tenerife as a separate lounge to the bedroom

Are you dead set on the Canary Islands ? If your budget is big enough I really REALLY recommend this www.beachesresorts.co.uk/main/ng/ng-accommodations.cfm .

We went for my Big Birthday a while ago, like you didn't want DS in our room with us.

I think we had a Beachfront 1 Bedroom Suite, DH and I in the bedroom, DS on one of the 2 sofa beds in the 'lounge'. 2 bathrooms as well !!

Food and service were good, and you will get better Christmas weather in the Caribbean .

Clumsymum not dead set on Canaries but don't think the 1 year old would cope with a 9 hour flight. 4-5 hours max I'd say. Looks amazing though, will have to remember for when the kids have left home and go with dh.

That's a shame NevilleBarnes, trust me, it's a wonderful holiday, and the children's entertainment / nanny service means you get chance to have some time to yourselves too.

If you are going to wait until the kids have left home, then you should take a look at the same company's 'adults only' resorts (nothing saucy, you just don't get screaming kids around the swimming pools) www.sandals.co.uk/.

We went twice in the 7 years we were married before DS came along. But then I LOVE the Caribbean !!

Sandals is firmly on the list for when the time come! Looks fantastic.
Thanks for your help Clumsymum.
