Honeymoon-where should we go ?

Got married in June of this year but due to lack of finances, 3 dcs with medical problems and a new baby just out of nicu we couldn't go on a honeymoon.

I have had horrible pnd and to be honest a rubbish few years.

Dh and I desperately need a really lovely holiday, we have never been away before and want something extra special. It will take us at least 2-3yrs to save up so in the meantime I want to plan it all perfectly.

As I have no idea about holidays etc I have been searching for lovely places on internet and got a few brochures from local travel agent.

I thought the Maldives, Seychelles and Bahamas all looked nice but when I spoke to a travel agent he was quite anti the Maldives saying there is not much to do there except water sports and that a lot of people get bored?

I would really appreiciate some advice on where would be nice to go and roughly how much it could cost, the things I would love on this holiday (or our belated honeymoon!) are:

Beautiful quiet secluded beach
private villa
lovely spa
lots of relaxation
7-10 days

In all honesty this will probably be our only holiday due to the dcs problems and I want it to be perfect. We have had such a bad few years and desperately need some time to relax and unwind.

Any suggestions as to where to go/things to do/likely cost would really be appreiciated.

Thankyou!

Also, I have read/heard varying things about best time of year to go to certain destinations so info on that too would be helpful, thanks

I honeymooned in St Lucia and loved it - beautiful place, friendly people, great weather.

I would love to go to the Maldives and everyone I know who has been has loved it - but there really isn't much to do so it would depend on what sort of holiday you want. I like to eat, sleep, read, swim and sunbathe so it would suit me down to the ground! But if you want activities and sightseeing then it wouldn't be much good.

I'd also love to go to Malaysia. My brother went to Mauritius and liked it.

My ideal holiday really would just be relaxing, sunbathing, having a couple of spa treatments etc. We really just need a week-ten days of complete tranquility, nice food and rest.

It really needs to be a once in a lifetime wonderful holiday, I doubt we will ever go away again after we have a window in about 3 years time when the youngest will be old enough to leave with family and the older dcs will (hopefully) be ok healthwise and no major hospital stays etc are expected around that time so I am really hoping for something wonderful that we will always look back on Smile

Mauritius. I stayed with a family but we ate in the hotels a few times.

Beautiful place, a few things to do such as look at giant tortoises and great fun haggling in the shops and market.

Lovely friendly people and fantastic food. The hotels look great. The beach is white sand with volcanic rocks - you can go look at an inactive volcano if you like. Where I was staying there were rocks / reef about 50 metres out to see, so near the beach there were few waves and the water was warm and shallow, you could see the waves crashing in the distance.
