Villa recommendations in Mallorca

ceeveebee · 28/08/2012 15:01

I have finally received passports back after a 7 week wait and am keen to book a holiday for DH, me and our 10 monthold twins before I go back to work in October after 12 months maternity leave. We are taking the PILs with us too.

Does anyone have anyrecommendations either for specific villas or travel companies? We want to be walking distance from restaurants etc for evenings out (might as well take advantage of the babysitting!!) - Pollenca would be ideal but will consider anywhere.

Thanks in advance

Hi, we visited over the summer, stayed in Alcudia, and used owners direct. Fantastic holiday and have also used owners direct for a villa next year to Minorca. Good luck !

Soller is lovely. I would recommend that place. We have a villa there, but it's massive - far to big (and unsuitable, I think) for a family of 3 with a small baby. But Soller as a place is gorgeous.

Pollenca is my favourite place in the world, you've got good taste! Check out Villa Select. We've had a few of their villas and they've been brilliant. Fantastic service from the reps too.

Hey onceortwice we wouldn'tt mind rattling around in a massive villa Envy! Actually there will be 4 adults (us and PILs) and two babies (twins) but you're right, I think Soller will be too hilly and too many steps from what I remember

lurcher I've just looked at villa select and think I have found the perfect place - fingers crossed the others like it - thank you all!

We've been to various bits of Majorca with villa parade and have had great villas. If you can stretch to their platinum range it's well worth it Grin

I was lucky enough to win a Villa Holiday to Mallorca this summer. The company we booked through was Vintage travel, and I cant recommend them enough. They booked flights and car hire for us too and have a huge range of Villas. Worth a look.

Which one have you opted for ceevee? I'm nosy in case it's one I've stayed in!

Its c'as Teo - 4 beds which is more than we need but as it was last minute we got a reasonable discount! If you have stayed there and it was rubbish don't tell me.....

I haven't stayed in that one! Looks nice and handy for the town centre. Have you been to Pollenca before?

ceeveebee · 30/08/2012 22:03

Yes - a few years ago ( pre DCs) we went on a cycling tour around the island, from Palma to Pollensa then along the northern roads. Only stayed in Pollensa for 2 nightd but really liked it. Any recommendations for things to do, places to eat?
Thanks

Oooo yes. Sunday morning is the market - stock up on lovely veg, olives, cheese, ham etc as well as all the usual trinkets. Food-wise, there are loads of gorgeous restaurants. Clivia is the poshest and very good. Cantonet is more chilled out but great food, especially the pasta. Eu Centro is rustic and does a divine tumblet (local dish which is like a liver casserole - it's really good!). They do great suckling pig too. I would avoid the restaurants on the main square as they're a bit touristy, but they're good places to have a drink at night and watch the world go by. For activities, hire a car and drive out to Puorto Pollenca if you like the sea (and there's a lovely fish restaurant on the sea front called Stay). Walk up the hill to the Puich Maria if you like a challenge - it is worth it for the views. Climb the 365 steps in the town centre too.

And if you like jewellery, check out Shobha Diane, up a side street from the main square and opposite Eu Centro restaurant. Her stuff is absolutely divine, but it's not cheap!

Enjoy - I love Pollenca and can't wait for my next trip!

Oh and restaurants are all very baby-friendly. We take DS out in the evenings and they love him even whilst he throws bread everywhere.

Lurcher thank you so much, that's great
