Hi, advice please, thinking of next summer with our 3 and 6 year olds. Half board restaurant opens at 7pm, our children will be hungry before then so I will have to give them something about 5 so false economy? Also if I go half board does this mean room won't have fridge or kettle? I know this may seem like a daft query but we haven't taken the kids abroad before and school hols are so expensive I want to get it right. Cheers all x

Half board normally means you don't get any catering facilities in your room at all but some do provide a kettle, you would have to check with the individual hotel but almost certainly not a fridge. Have you considered All Inclusive? I have found that it works out much cheaper given the cost of food and drink abroad with a weak Euro. Kids can just help them selves to drinks, ice cream, snacks and meals whenever they want. Monarch Holidays are very reasonably priced i've found.

Yes all inc may be the way to go, espec as at the mo my kids are all ' want want want!....' will check out monarch too, hadn't thought of them. Thanks for the advice.

My pleasure. I just found that they were wanting 3/4 drinks an hour because of the heat and if I had been paying for them at approx £1 a time plus snacks and meals, I would have been bankrupt by the time I left! I never usually take more than £300 spending money for AI but depends on what excursions you want to do.

Yes that makes sense. Thanks for the advice, been so long since i went on a package hol and the last one was to benidorm with the girls, so can't rely on that experience! And it was an experience (and not a good one!) ha ha.

I second the AI idea as well. I was in Ibiza this year in an AI. The days that we were out on excursions and I decided to eat out, it was not cheap. We definitely saved money by going AI, and DS was very happy as he could get drinks and snacks all day long without asking me for money.

I go to Ibiza on AI - fanbloodytastic. Ice-cream, crisps, mid morning pastries and cakes all included - kids liked it too Grin We had a small kitchen area in our apartment as well.

I've stayed in Aparta hotels in Majorca and they are great because they are flats with cookers and fridges, but in a hotel.

Google safari park, or vista Badia Sa Coma (I've stayed here twice) brilliant because you can do half board or all inclusive and there is a huge supermarket just up the road.

Don't know if their is similar in Ibiza, we had 2 rooms in a hotel (palm beach), very nice, but no kitchen.

I've just returned from Ibiza with my 4 and 7 yr old and, for me, AI is definitely the way to go. No carrying money, no thinking about what to eat and when etc etc.

wigglesrock who did you book with? we went with first choice. I'd like to go back next year and would welcome any suggestions for places to stay / travel companies.

wigglesrock · 29/08/2012 21:12

I have a 7 and 4 year old and 18 month old (was a souvenir from one of our Ibiza trips - didn't have the nerve to use Ibiza as a middle name Grin) We go to Santa Eulalia - we have booked through Travel Republic each time. This summer was the first year we didn't go - can you tell I haven't got over it yet Blush

Which hotel it looks lovely, but I can't find a hotel with a good pool, near the beach.

H2O fresh, salty and flowing down skyscraper high plastic chutes being the number one holiday necessity in the Bunny household.

wigglesrock · 31/08/2012 10:54

Sorry StarBallBunny we stay at Hotel Tropic Garden - its about 15 mins walk to beach. We're not huge beach people - suncream, sand, babies eating sand not a good mix in our household. The pool is big and great for swimming but they are no chutes, slides but there is an indoor pool incase its pissing - not that it ever has Grin
