Menorca experts, what to do for whole day with no accommodation before flight?

We have to be out of our accom by 10 but our flight is not until 8 in the evening. I have a 3 year old and 11 year old and obviously it's very hot!!! We need to get out of the sun in the afternoon but lots of museums such as the one in Mahon seem to close in the afternoon:(
We have a hire car until 6 so we can go pretty much anywhere. We are leaving tomorrow by the way.
I was thinking about going to Mahon in the morning then finding somewhere with air con in the afternoon. Or going to a waterpark in the afternoon?
Any tips gratefully accepted :)

You could try Club San Jaime in Son Bou, it has pools, water slides and air-conditioned bar, free to go in as long as you buy drinks. It also isn't too far from Mahon and is only about 20 minutes from the Airport.

Most places do close for Siesta in the afternoon, but I will put on my thinking cap and see what else I can come up with for you.

Oh I forgot the amazing Fort Marlborough in Cala Sant Esteve - we spent a happy couple of hours here and as it is mostly underground it is very cool, and as a bonus, only 2 euros per person to get in. Cala Sant Esteve is a really pretty little place to wander around, lovely creek.

Fortalesa La Mola is also brilliant, but more expensive. Worth it though.

Both near Mahon / Airport too.

Thanks Diabolo, I think we will try the club San Jamie, sounds great and is on the way to the airport from Cala Galdana where we are staying.
Water slides and some air con is exactly what we need. Thanks!
First time to Menorca for us and we have really enjoyed it! Smile

I got back 3 weeks ago, I understand from friends who live out there that it has been 40 degrees some days over the last two weeks. Phew!

Hope San Jaime is OK - we've only used the waterslides previously, but the pools & main bit seem to be really popular / always busy.

Hi Diabolo, San Jamie was great! We spent about 3 and a half hours there and had lunch, it was just what we needed, so thanks for your tip, we would have had no idea without your advice :)
It was sooo hot last week, I think pushing 40 degrees some days! But Friday was a bit cooler actually and there was a nice breeze so it wasn't too bad. After San jamie we went to the Fort La Mola which was really beautiful and atmospheric. We were about the only people there which added to the experience, also there was a power cut for a couple of minutes whilst we were in one of the tunnels which was a bit dramatic, it was pitch black!

We are back home now and it's raining :( and it feels freezing!

We will start planning and saving to go back to menorca and probabaly Cala Galdana, it's such a fab place for kids :)

So glad it was OK. I've been to Menorca for the past 10 years, (after swearing to never go back to the same place twice on holiday), but I just love it there, I feel more at home there than I do here.

Swim.

We've never yet not come home from the Med with a suit case full of wet stuff.

Ok not practical if your being thrown out of a villa, but hotels don;t worry at all and most have a shower somewhere if you don't want to go home all grubby.
