I went once.

My then 5 year old was almost walking on air he was sooooo excited.

I found it dull.

But then I'm not thrilled by diggers. Grin

We've been to the Devon one, and it was fanbloodytastic

How old are your children? It left a bad taste in my mouth -

  • They charged DS full price (£17!!!!) to get in because he was a smidge over 90cm, then wouldn't let him go on most rides because he was under three.
  • They also charged my PIL full price even though they said they were only going to sit in coffee bar area.
  • I could go on v few things because I was pregnant.
  • To get to the main part of the park, yuh have to run the gamut of lots of coin operated things, attractive to children!
  • To get out you have to go through a shop packed full of diggery crap.
  • Despite going on a bank holiday week end, the free soft play area and cafe were shut and none of the outside concessions were open either.
  • Most of the dinosaurs in the dinosaur wood that you can get the tractor train through are broken.
  • It was really windy, and we kept getting whipped by sand and dust. (Ok, so this is out of their control ).
  • The toilets were disgusting. I am bit overly super hygiene queen, but they were verging on Trainspotting standard.

So in all, we spent £70 to watch DH have fun.

It might be better die about 8/9 yo up.

You missed nothing with the cafe being closed. The smell of chip fat was quite something.

cappucinogirl4 · 21/08/2012 20:19

We took a 9 year old and a six year old.To be fair they did enjoy it but it was blardy expensive for what it was and we'd done everything in 2 hours. We won't be going back.

BikeMedalsRunningMedals · 21/08/2012 20:21

Yes, but we were expecting it to be and hadn't eaten. Bad advertising, especially fir pg woman, 2 yo and pensioners. It was just another black mark against them.

LemonBreeland · 21/08/2012 20:22

We went to the one in Durham and the kids loved it. As did dh and my db! It was a fantastic day out. We got vouchers through tesco clubcard points and it was only £7 per person.

CoffeeGoneColdAgain · 22/08/2012 08:51

Oh dear :( Doesn't sound like a pleasant experience, Thank you for your replies though. We have also done it through tesco clubcard. £20 -£5 x 4 exchanged for entry for all for of us, Ds is 12 & Dd is 5. Think we will take a picnic Grin

For £20 and a picnic and older DC I think you'll have a great time. Have a wee before you go though!

CoffeeGoneColdAgain · 22/08/2012 14:29

Thank you BikeMedals, I will make sure Dd goes for a wee, :)

You could have great time. We took DS 7 the first weekend of the summer hols. I was a bit surprised by how small it was and thought we'd be done in 1 1/2hrs. But the sun shone, queues were very short and we took a picnic. DS pretty much went on everything twice - tall enough for driving the bobcats, digging with a JCB etc. DH was beside himself at getting to drive a full size JCB unsupervised. I even had a go at driving a bobcat. Toilets were clean and the young staff manning the rides were friendly to the kids and polite. (We didn't pay full whack either which helps.)

alicestars · 24/08/2012 10:27

I thought admission was pretty average, compared to like Alton Towers and Chessington which are double the price and your queing half the day.

My son was just over 90cm and nearly 4, and could go on most the rides apart from about 4 of the largers rides, some he had to sit on my lap. He had an amazing day, and recons he has the skills to be a construction worker now! I even enjoyed driving the dumper trucks.

We barely eat out so I brought along a picnic. Staff seemed friendly, and theres always some vouchers in local papers around the school holidays. Its definitly worth a visit if you've got kids, especially boys, between 3 and 13 :)
