On tues we are travelling from the north west (Southport) to East Kent; any MNers do this journey and know of any child friendly pubs/playgrounds or similar that we could take a break at? Also which services are better than others? be good to have a few options so we can work around kid's naps. I'm dreading the drive; a teething non-car sleeping 11month old and a very active whiney (in cars) 2.5yo!

There's a services I liked when travelling from Herts to the North West which was on the M1. Think it was Donington services. Had a nice bit of grass to play on and the inside wasn't oppressive in the way that some are. Is a Moto one and had a part where children could colour in.

Pretty sure it's these ones

Just off the M6 Toll is Packington Moor Farm Shop. www.packingtonmoorfarm.co.uk/

It's lovely. Has a really nice cafe with amazing food (as long as you're not veggie!) and which really welcomes children. The shop is surrounded by grassy banks for running around on. There are lots of little diggers and tractors to drive. It's v close to my parents' house and one of the first places DD1 asks to go every visit. She's 3.5 now so the main fascination is watching the butcher but she still loves the tractors and the mini hot chocolate!

thanks all, I feel better knowing there's a few options! Farm shop sounds lovely but not sure thrifty DH will use the toll! We have used some good services in the past and some not so good - but never remember which is which! Liking the idea of soft play for DH and DDs and retail therapy for me Ohhelp! Grin

www.motorwayservicesonline.co.uk
is apparently a website where you can type in the motorway you will be travelling and request it shows you which services along said motorway have children's play areas in them.
Any help?
