Will DS2 be too young for Harry potter forbidden journey ride at universal

He's desperately excited about it and trying to grow another few centimetres but I've been reading about it and am concerned it might be a bit scary. He's five but brave. He wasn't fazed at all by the dinosaur ride at Disneyworld 18 months ago. Has anyone been on the ride with little ones?

It is a fair but scary and pretty intense. DD was 9y when she went on it last year and a huge HP fan, and a big ride fan - she found it pretty scary the first time, but did go back for a second go later in week too. It is a brilliant ride though.

I would say 5 was too young by our experience. Dinosaur is a really tame ride by comparison. Ds (8) wouldn't go on it twice. He was white with fear when he came off.

Do you mean the indoor one on the imaginary broomstick?

Ds6 went on with me 3 times in a row. We loved it, I think it depends on his maturity (huge spider, skeletons etc)

Dh went on once, he felt too dizzy. Grin

The roller coaster ride where you choose a colour - red or blue, will be too old for him.

I don't know about maturity. Ds saw the new batman last weekend and was fine with it. It is the intensity of the mix of live action and film I think. It was the dementors that did the damage. Ugh.

The minimum height is 48 inches for the ride op. Which is a 6-7 guide.

Virgil · 16/08/2012 17:53

I suspect he might not get to 48 inches anyway which will probably solve the dilemma for us anyway! I just know he's going to be put out that his older brother can go on and he can't. I don't want him to be scared though so we will maybe send DS1 and DH on first to give us their view too.

There is enough to do at Universal without getting sad about that one ride.

Says the 40 year old woman who went on the Spiderman 4D ride 8 times in a row. Blush

Virgil - take him on the Hippogrith ride next to it maybe? Smaller rollercoaster.
He can still do the queue and go round Hogwarts - lots to see.

Yes the child swap room is good, it's well themed and you can watch HP films while you wait.

I would do ollivanders first btw if you get there first thing.

Hulababy · 17/08/2012 08:55

Yes we queued for about 90 min for Ollivanders and it's in full sun too. Urgh. Dd loved the show inside and was picked to have a wand choose her but it is very short inside really and probably far less fun if not the child chosen. You can go into Ollivanders from the rear of just wanting a wand though.

We had lunch in the three broomsticks and dd enjoyed the butter beer. Didn't like pumpkin juice. The sweets are expensive too - $12 for every flavour beans, about $10 for a choc frog.
