Advice needed regarding British Airways

Hello,

I may have posted this in the wrong section, but I am hoping someone can advise me.

My sister is due to fly today from Sydney to London with my two nephews, a two year old and a nine month old. She is flying with BA.

They checked in on line and headed off to the airport. On the way 9mo DN got distressed and his temperature shot up. My sister took him straight to the doctors where she was told he had tonsillitis and was medically unfit to fly.

She rang BA from the doctors and was told by the call centre that she would be able to reschedule their flights as long as she emailed the medical certificate, which she did as soon as she got home.

The response to the email was that BA are now classing them all as no shows because they checked in on line and will not reschedule their flight. When she rang the call centre again she was told by their customer services that DN only had a sore throat and of course he could fly.

The reason that my sister is making this trip in the first place is because our mother is seriously ill. While my sister's travel insurance will refund her the travel costs she needs to make the flight as soon as possible when DN is fit to fly.

I am wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar with BA? Or any suggestions on how to resolve it?

Tell her to ask for manager and just keep on their case till you get the answer you want. Not an expert on BA but always keep ringing other airlines when had problems changing flights, all the customer service agents have a different response half the time.

I would also mention your ill mum.

Thanks Cat. She's waiting for the uk branch of customer relations to open at 9 am. Hopefully we'll get somewhere.

I'd just keep phoning BA and ask to speak to the person's manager if it isn't sorted.

Definitely ... Outraged that call centre think thy can overrule doctor, temp spikes and tonsillitis awful in little ones. Just tried googling an email address for BA customer services but couldn't find one.
