Holidays

Hi, we live in the Lake District and have been there just on day trips. The location is stunning! The swimming pool is lovely and suitable for kids and there is also a spa and sauna. Restaurant was good as well - decent food and relaxed atmosphere. It is not geared up for kids like Oasis in terms of loads of activities / play areas but there is plenty of room for the kids to run around and it is a good base to explore the area. It is much more of a Lake District experience than Oasis. Hope that helps.

Thanks Zazas - You know, I think thats what we want. I think I'm just a bit worried there will be NO other kids around but just middle aged couples sighing and tutting as they see us lot make an entrance into the pool or restuarant. What do you reckon?

Well I guess it will depend if you are going in or out of term time? In the holiday period there will be loads of families and they are the ones that mostly use the pool! The restaurant that we went to was very casual - I am not sure if they have a more formal one? Anyway there is plenty of space to play around outside without stepping on other guests. I have done day trips to Oasis as well and the pool with its slides is fun for a day and walking / biking around the grounds is OK - but it is quite a 'camp' mentality and I wonder if many people even leave the place to explore the Lakes or prefer the 'atificial' wilderness in Oasis!!! I really love the Langdale Valley though.

Thanks Zazzas again, I think you've helped me amke up my mind! We'll be going in June - Now to choose between the slightly off site Chapel apartments to keep the costs down or splash out for an on site Lodge? Any thoughts? \link{http://www.langdale.co.uk/\website}

Is that the Langdales hotel? If so, have been there (pre child) and was lovely. Only child thing which riled us (greatly) was children running around restaurant while parents ignored them. Would not have minded so much had we not purposely eaten as late as poss to avoid children.
Have fun if you go!
