okay so have booked 1 week all inclusive for 2 adults and 1 baby who will be 7months when we go! basically never been away with a baby before as this is our first so i'm hoping you lot can help me out (you always do)! So can anyone help me by giving me an idea of how much stuff i'll probably need for lo as in clothes and also what type of clothes he'll need and should i take nappies or buy them there?! what about milk take it or buy it?! how much suncream will he need? how much water should i aim to get in to him? am going the middle of september if that helps anyone!

so basically any help you can give me would be great, quite ocd so i feel a compulsion to start getting organised now as have a few busy weeks coming up and won't have much time between now and then just to browse shops and contemplate heavily what needs taking!

TIA xxxx

Hi
Dh and I went to Majorca this time last year and it was boiling hot, I imagine it will have cooled down a bit by mid sept but I would only pack light clothing and then layer up if necessary in the evenings.

I've heard that nappies are expensive, I don't know about milk but that's probably dearer too.

You will need lots of sun cream, high factor and regularly applied. Again, it can be expensive to buy once you're over there. I see sainsburys have got half price offers on sun cream atm so maybe stock up before you go?

Drink lots of water. I didn't and my feet swelled up disgustingly.

Most importantly though, have a great time! Relax, if you forget anything it can always be bought once you're there ... It may cost a bit more but it's not the end of the world.

Hope you enjoy your holiday Smile

We were in Majorca a couple of weeks ago. Nappies were way more expensive than the UK - a standard size pack was over 20euros in the Eroski supermarket and more expensive in smaller shops. Wipes were about 2 euros per pack for Eroski own brand so not too bad.

I took my little man to majorca when he was only 2 months old and I took nappies and milk with me.There was no need to though because the shops sold all the well known brands and they were the same price as at home.As he was so little he was constantly in the shade and my most important item was my mosquito net for the evenings.

We've just returned from Majorca and he is 2 now, it was boiling, boiling hot so he wore sunsuits everyday with a hat.I took 2 but I wish I had bought more even though they did dry out quickly. He also wore lots of t-shirts and swimming shorts. It's amzing how many times you change their clothes due to spills, etc.I also took some nappies with me but bought more when they run out.The evenings were also very warm so he wore shorts and a cotten shirt each night and slept in his nappie.I went through a full bottle of suntan lotion but he is very fair skinned.Everytime we had a drink which was very often, he had one and he also lolleys, icecreams.Make sure your trolley has an umbrella for naptime.

I hope this list helps !!, you will have a fabulous time,Majorca is very family friendly and the flight is nice and short.I would return every year if I could there are so many lovely resorts to explore.Hopefully it will be cooler in September. Enjoy and don't stress about forgetting anything the shops are as well stocked as ours with baby supplies.

thanks everyone for your replies! i get a bit stressed about forgetting stuff which i know is stupid it's only spain they do have shops there but i think it stems from when lo was only 6 weeks old ebf and i was rushed to intensive care leaving him to be cared for by his grandad and when i came round knowing we'd already bought bottles and things made me feel a bit happier that he'd have been okay so i think now i'm desperate to make sure i'm always prepared!

so is it probably best to take as many nappies as i can squeeze in do you think? he's a little water baby so i've got swim nappies which i'm planning on him wearing most of the time during the day is that reasonable?!

i know they always say one more layer than you for babies but surely thats unreasonable on holiday i mean he's not going to need a vest and clothes... is he?!

i don't think i'll take milk will probs just buy some there, it's just too bulky, maybe i'll take a large pre-made bottle for the first day so i'm not entirely without!

oh and also did anyone take like a first aid kit?! and if you did what was in it?!

Have never taken a first aid kit. Sachets of calpol is about as organised as I get!

No way will your lo need a vest. Just light loose clothing.

Just fling some clothes, suncream and nappies in a suitcase and go Grin

If your dc has a favourite toy or comforter don't forget that, everything else is optional!

We went to Majorca when DD was still in nappies and I bought them there. Yes, they may be more expensive but I just didn't want to think about it and as she didn't have her own luggage allowance I had to pack carefully.

I wouldn't worry about a vest, just light clothes like T-shirt and little shorts. Lots of factor 50 suncream and hats. We always use a UV 50 swimsuit for DD as they can burn in the pool very easily just wearing a nappy.

Most resorts have doctors who speak English but I always take at least Calpol, a thermometer and plaster with me. And a good travel insurance.

I took DD to Spain at that age in September and it was very hot. I took shed loads of clothes which we didnt need/use as DD was happy sitting in her nappy and sunhat in the shade most of the time.

As for nappies, I got a good tip on here - I bought a cheap buggy bag on ebay and put my buggy in it and checked it in as luggage and carried DD through the airport to the plane in her sling.

As the pram carry bag is counted as the baby item the carrier will let you take for free - I stuffed all our beach towels and nappies in the bag with the pram and it doesn't eat up the baggage allowance making more room for all the clothes you will pack and not wear
