Never went anywhere with my first, so I've no idea. Pack enough or buy abroad. What makes most sense? Not stuck for room, as good at packing light! Any other genius suggestions? TIA

I went sorry to with a 6 month old and found it a difficult place to change a baby - no changing tables anywhere! I would take some from home to use at night but buy cheaper supermarket ones there. I found this ok as dd never had them on long do cheaper ones fr the day, when in/out of pool were fine.

If you can get pull ups, they will be much easier for changing in restaurants etc.

To sorrento that should say!

When are you going civilfawlty? Watching with interest as we are off in September with 4mo DS, and I am massively stressing about it Confused

Hell, I'm even stressing about spending the weekend away at my parents'/FIL's this weekend!

Someone knock some sense into me Grin

We're off to Lake Orta. Should say have done lots of schlepping round the UK, and a weekend in Barcelona when ds was 3 months - all absolutely fine. He is so portable we just chucked him in the sling and did our thing. Don't stress!

Are there particular things you are stressing about we can help with?

And - pull up suggestion excellent - thank you.

Oooooo Lake Orta, beautiful! We stopped overnight there on our last trip down to Tuscany (which is where we are going again this time)

I guess I'm stressing about all the things I need to take with me (I am a terrible packer) and the fear of something going wrong while we are out there, as my Italian is pretty basic.

Rationally I know I'm being ridiculous, but I can't seem to talk myself out of the panicking!

Do you have a method to your packing civil? Any packing wisdom you can share with me? Smile

Oh excellent - it wasn't an informed choice - we literally stuck a pin in a map.

And - at the risk of leaving something significant behind...

A week+ before, I write down everything I use over the course of the day. Do it a couple of times. Then turn that into a list: it is always fewer actual items than you think. Mostly significant for the children (also have a 9yo Dd), but it always surprises me how few cosmetics etc I use.

Think that's it. Oh - also useful to know that easyjet let you take two pieces of baby kit for free - so buggy, travel cot, car seat etc. And a friend gave me a great tip - to tie string to the baby toys and then also to the airplane seat, so when they chuck them, they are easy to retrieve. V sensible I thought.

Where in Tuscany - we went last year abd LOVED it?

Great, thanks - list making is definitely the way to go!

We are staying in a house up in the hills above Bagni di Lucca, so in the Garfagagna (sp?) region in the north of Tuscany.

We love it too - this is a repeat of a holiday 2 years ago, and DH and I also spent our honeymoon in Tuscany last year, travelling all over by train - Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, etc.

I do love it there Smile

I've taken DS to Italy - Tuscany, in fact - twice (DH's family live there) and we are going to Sardinia with them next weekend (can't wait!)but I always found nappies in Italy REALLY expensive. I generally take as many as I can with me and then buy more if I really need to.

I also found changing challenging when out and about - vivid memories of having to change nappy in the middle of the platform (floor) at Milan train station last summer when our train was delayed and the only other alternative was the filthy floor of the train toilet (yuk)!

If the chemist or any shop stocks Chicco nappies they are generally cheaper than the pampers and huggies. However the larger chain supermarkets then they will be cheaper. If you buy the Pampers in a chemist / Farmacia thenthey will cost a fortune!!!
