Easter self catering break

WE are thinking of booking a break for about 5 nights over the Easter holiday.
WE normally book a cottage as it makes life easier and we can come and go as we please.

AS we are doing lots of jobs on the house money is tight so no more than £300 - bascially the cheaper the better!
WE are outdoorsy people lots of walking and exploring of castles and the like.

We are in Lanchasire and don't want to drive more than a few hours. Where are the best Uk hols you have had around this time of year?

What about a caravan?? Sites should still be quite cheap this time of year. Try Haven.

We had looked at Haven, we have a pontins or Butlins near us - not sure which that looks like a prison camp and is just known for being awful which puts me off them.

There is a haven near where we go in Wales although it was booked up. I thought we might try a different area though.

Errrrm if I come across anything I'll post.

I don;t mind the lakes but we do go quite a lot and I like the idea of stepping outside our comfort zone and trying somewhere new.

Looking for recommendations of places to visit really.

WE are going camping in the summer - as it will be our first time I thought I would wait for the weather to warm up a bit!

What about Dumfries and Galloway..Scotland? Not that far really..we have friends from Lancs and I think it's takes them about 2-3 hrs travelling. Loads to do and plenty of castles-days out..beach walks etc that i can recommened if you interested. www.discoverscotland.co.uk is a good place to look for self catering cottages.

We had thought about Sootland but thought it would be too faw away, I will ask dp what he thinks about a 2-3 hour drive.
